Jeramie
Re: Wild Prices! [ QUOTE ] IT's a 2 wheel drive. I'd leave it where it is. Unless you want it to drive down to the tennis court to play a round, spend the extra cash and get a four wheel drive and at least then you have a chance at going places. [/ QUOTE ] That all depends on the area too. I use to ride a honda 350 fourtrax. My cousing rode one that was 4 wheel drive. He thought he could go places around here that I couldnt. He soon found the the ability of the rider has a huge amount to do with it too. We climbed some hills that seemed to steep to walk and were covered with loose slate and leaves. He never lost me and he tried several times. The 4x4 theory may hold true in Canada but I have never truly needed a 4x4 quad. Not to say I wouldnt want one but Ive never been in a pinch where it was necessary.
preacherman
Re: Wild Prices! I had a 2 wheel drive Rancher with a Winch on it and ITP Mudlite tires and went everywhere that the big boys went with no problems riding in Mississippi and Alabama. I use a four wheeler mainly for hunting, and honestly have never needed a 4 wheel drive.
Gator
Re: Wild Prices! 4x4= stuck deeper!!!! Me and a buddy were on the Red River one weekend, he had a Yamaha 225 I think, got it stuck in some stuff almost like quick sand. Took both of us to LIFT it out. Had it been a 4x4, it would most likely still be there. No thanks, if I ever get one, its gonna be 2 wheel drive
Newarcher
Re: Wild Prices! I bought a Honda Recon mainly because I could get it new for a great price. I figure it this way....my entire bike weighs somewhere in the 300's....I can lift or push it out of anything that I could or would get it stuck in. The only disadvantage I can see is a lighter front end that makes going up very steep hills a little sketchy. New
SaskMan
Re: Wild Prices! It's all relative to where you are located. [ QUOTE ] No thanks, if I ever get one, its gonna be 2 wheel drive [/ QUOTE ] If you got a 2 wheel drive here you'd never get anywhere, may as well have a golf cart for all it'll do come fall, winter, and spring. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Wild Prices! its all in what you want and what fits your pocket book. 2 wheel drive might be all you need.
christsavedme
Re: Wild Prices! I have alot of friends that still ride two wheel drive machines and they have a blast with them....also have figured out that they don't get broke down near as much...part of the reason is when we all go out trail riding they are the sain ones that stay on the trail and don't try to cross every mud hole they come across.......Two wheel drive atv's was all there was for a long time and people did fine with them...get you a winch and you have got it made! wtnhunt
Re: Wild Prices! Pretty happy with the switchable 4wd on our foreman. Think we paid like $4500 for it new at abernathys last year. Have to use the 4wd quite oftne around here. Our old 350 foreman was all the time 4wd, it was light enough that the only times I ever got it stuck I was able to push it out.. JimT
Re: Wild Prices! I have only wished I had 4x4 a couple times..And that was when I was messing around. My 2x4 Rancher stays with everyone...I only use it for joy riding and hunting, not mudding. Ripping up other peoples land does none of us any good.
