The one I am thinking of getting is called the Hawk and for 99 bucks it looks nice. Just want to make sure they are not junk before I buy one. NY911Bowhunter
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart I had a similar model - maybe even the older version of that one - it was an all steall HV cable climber. Very sturdy - but also pretty heavy to carry. I don't care for climbers, so it didn't really get a good woorkout. I sold mine
slugshooter
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart I have one, no problems with it, except the seat is starting to tear a little at the seam, probably cause I got such a big rear. I have a little trouble getting up trees with knots in them, the cable doesn't like to go past the knots, other than that, no major complaints. Jeramie
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart Yeah, I have one too. Its the more expensive model (like $140). I eventually want to upgrade but it was my first. I like it. Works fine for me. Like other said, they're pretty heavy but once you get use to the carry its not bad. The only thing I dont like about mine is the foot straps fall and they can be hard to get your feet in. You have to reach down to get them over your shoes/ boots. slugshooter
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart When I climb up in mine, I hook my feet into the bars that hold the cables, I have to use the straps going down, but going up is a lot easier by not having to try and wiggle your feet into the straps. [/ QUOTE ] Tie a piece of rope/cord from the top of one of the foot straps to the other. Then tie another piece of rope from the middle of that one to the top section somewhere. This does double duty for you.... One: It gives you something to pull up on and then just slide your feet into place... Two: It provides a great safety measure incase the bottom section slides or falls...you can pull it back up enough and using your feet....you can get it re-attached to the tree! Jeramie
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart Gary, you're my hero. I have some Cammo Nylon Rope that will be tied in place before taking the stand out this weekend. Thanks man....
Jeramie
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart Thats exactly what it was for me too, A "Starter Stand." I will eventually upgrade to a better stand but its serving its purpose....
RangerClay
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart I have one and it's ok but I wish I had a Summit! I'm a ladder stand kinda guy. I feel too confined in a climber. Ranger
Guest Rhinodog
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart My buddy has one and likes it alot. I have three of their ladder stands. It aint Summit, but it's still pretty good for the money.
RangerClay
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart I bought one and it's ok. I had the same problem as jeramie above. I had trouble getting my feet in the footstraps when I wanted to climb down. Personally I found that climbing stands were not my cup of tea. I found them to be very confining. I used it for one season and never used it again. Ranger
Guest ILBrad
Re: Hunters View climbers at Walmart I had one and had the same troubles with the foot straps, but if you can replace them with some rubber straps you should have a pretty serviceable stand.
