PAbowhunter4life
Well, after some bartering and smooth talking, I am trading a 20 ga. that I NEVER use for a Savage .17HMR with the heavy barrel. Anywho, I was looking for a decent scope to put on it for under $100. I see brands like Barska, BSA and what not, but I am not real sure about them. The one I am interested in the most for a real good price is the SIMMONS 3-9 X 50 8 POINT RIFLE SCOPE. I'll be using this gun for yotes out to 150 yards, so I want something with a lot of zoom and a big lens. Any other suggestions that will fit my budget? tedicast
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... PA....go to the Natchez website. They have some screaming deals on scopes. NATCHEZ I bought a Simmons 6x18x50 , Pro 50 from them for $68. They were the only one under $100 for the scope. Check it out. also, if you get your mind set on a scope, take a look on ebay. some real gooddeals on there for brand new scopes sometimes. WNY_Whitetailer
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... D&R Sportscenter has Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 scopes for the mid $80 range. There are several models to choose from that include mil-dot, multi-x and circle-x reticle. You do not need 50mm glass on your gun. 40mm will do the job and you can mount that scope closer to your barrel and come away with a better balancing gun. Good luck with whatever you choose. lil hunter
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... Well, i got a savage 93R17 GV, i topped it off with a $100 bushnell trophy scope. it works pretty nice for me. It is a 3-9x40. If I did it again, i'd have a little more powerful scope, but it's not needed at all. Just a personal choice.
PAbowhunter4life
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... Thanks bud. I was actually just thumbing through their catalog before i got on here. They do have some serious deals going on, so we'll see. I have been looking on ebay too and there are definitely deals on there like ya said, I was just waitingto see if anyone had experience with a particular "budget" minded scope that performed good. PAbowhunter4life
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... Thanks for the tip, I am going to check their site out as well, but I would prefer something with the 50mm lens.
PAbowhunter4life
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... See, that's what I want to avoid lol. I don't want to put a 40 on mine, then decide later to do a 50. If I'm gonna do it, I may as well do it right
tedicast
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... I have the Simmons 6x18x50 on my .223 Encore. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. [image][/image] Natchez has that scope online right now for 69.95 Simmons Pro 50 Scopes @ Natchez

Strut10
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... You don't get much for under $100. I would say "decent" would be pushing it a bit. I would suggest trying to find a little more of a "higher end" scope used on eBay. You still may be able to stay around your budget. The sad fact is: you do get what you pay for in riflescopes. Another option to check out is the BSA line. I have an 8X32 BSA that I mount on my .220 Swift for groundhog shooting. I think it was around $125. It holds its zero well. It's just not much to look through compared to a quality scope. If I need to shoot in anything other than broad daylight, I take it off and mount the Burris 6X18. PAbowhunter4life
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... Well, 99% of the time I will spend the money since you get what you pay for. However, this is going to be set up on a limited use yote gun, so I don't want to plop $300 out for a Nikon and use the gun every so often. Thanks for the advice just the same bro
PAhardwoods
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... i would also take a look at Natchez i bought a burris from them along with some reloading stuff they are very good to deal with................if you end up getting a 40 i would go with the bushnell trophy....i really enjoy these scopes they seem super bright to me and a joy to look through for the money Cody
spyderpancake
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... Check out the BSA Sweet 17. It has a trajectory compensation dial that is calibrated just for the 17gr. 17hmr round. You can get it in 3-12x40 or 6-18x40 with AO head. johnf
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... I've got a Simmons 8point 3-9X40 it would work fine for yotes since you don't need to count any points. It's not the clearest or the brightest, but mine stayed zeroed in on my 30-30 for 5 years untill I pulled it off to go with a red dot. snapper
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... I got a Simmons 8pt. 3-9X40 and its an ok scope...not much experience with it but I got it on ebay NIB for under $40. However, for a few dollars more than $100...you can pick up a Nikon pro-staff at Wal-mart for around $129 and change. For that money...its a hard scope to beat IMO. DannoBoone1
Re: Decent Scope For Under $100............... You can have my Simmons 4-16x50 AO for $100!!....OR you could get a Bushnell 4-12x40 AO Dawn to Dusk for less and be a LOT happier with it! (If you like mirages making your target wavey and dancing during hot weather, then a 50mm lens is for you!)
