Decent Scope For Under $100...............

Recommended Posts

Well, after some bartering and smooth talking, I am trading a 20 ga. that I NEVER use for a Savage .17HMR with the heavy barrel. Anywho, I was looking for a decent scope to put on it for under $100. I see brands like Barska, BSA and what not, but I am not real sure about them. The one I am interested in the most for a real good price is the SIMMONS 3-9 X 50 8 POINT RIFLE SCOPE.

I'll be using this gun for yotes out to 150 yards, so I want something with a lot of zoom and a big lens. Any other suggestions that will fit my budget?

PA....go to the Natchez website. They have some screaming deals on scopes.

NATCHEZ

I bought a Simmons 6x18x50 , Pro 50 from them for $68. They were the only one under $100 for the scope. Check it out. also, if you get your mind set on a scope, take a look on ebay. some real gooddeals on there for brand new scopes sometimes.

Re: Decent Scope For Under $100...............

D&R Sportscenter has Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 scopes for the mid $80 range. There are several models to choose from that include mil-dot, multi-x and circle-x reticle. You do not need 50mm glass on your gun. 40mm will do the job and you can mount that scope closer to your barrel and come away with a better balancing gun. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks bud. I was actually just thumbing through their catalog before i got on here. They do have some serious deals going on, so we'll see.

I have been looking on ebay too and there are definitely deals on there like ya said, I was just waitingto see if anyone had experience with a particular "budget" minded scope that performed good.

Re: Decent Scope For Under $100...............

You don't get much for under $100. frown.gif I would say "decent" would be pushing it a bit. I would suggest trying to find a little more of a "higher end" scope used on eBay. You still may be able to stay around your budget. The sad fact is: you do get what you pay for in riflescopes.

Another option to check out is the BSA line. I have an 8X32 BSA that I mount on my .220 Swift for groundhog shooting. I think it was around $125. It holds its zero well. It's just not much to look through compared to a quality scope. If I need to shoot in anything other than broad daylight, I take it off and mount the Burris 6X18.

Re: Decent Scope For Under $100...............

I've got a Simmons 8point 3-9X40 it would work fine for yotes since you don't need to count any points.

It's not the clearest or the brightest, but mine stayed zeroed in on my 30-30 for 5 years untill I pulled it off to go with a red dot.

Re: Decent Scope For Under $100...............

I got a Simmons 8pt. 3-9X40 and its an ok scope...not much experience with it but I got it on ebay NIB for under $40.

However, for a few dollars more than $100...you can pick up a Nikon pro-staff at Wal-mart for around $129 and change. For that money...its a hard scope to beat IMO. wink.gif
