VTbowman
Re: WTB:Yew Self Bow 55# to 60# Yew is a breed of pine that is one of the best woods to make traditional bows from. The English used it almost entirely to make all thier long bows throught history. Some Enlish long bows can be as heavy in draw weight as 100# and still flex and snap right back.. Mostly a bow of that weight was a war bow... A Self bow is a bow made entirely of just one piece of wood. A log is split length-wise into staves which then a bow can be cut, rasped, filed, sanded, shaved, etc. down to a bow shape. Then there is Osage Orange or Hedgeapple which is consider just as good a wood for bows. I have one of those already coming...

VTbowman
Re: WTB:Yew Self Bow 55# to 60# Its not that its any more fun, which to me it is, its how much more gratifying it is when you hit the spots you want, consistantly, at the same distances, with nothing other then a stick, string, an arrow...
