Squirrelhunter91
Is there any way that I could get the smell off of my arrow? The arrow smells because I sent it through a woodchuck the other day, and the shot kind of ripped through the guts and intestines after ripping through the lungs. Any ideas? I have tried peroxide. Didn't work.
tedicast
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! you should have washed it with soap and hot water as before it dried. If it is a carbon, be sure to check carfully for cracks if it passed through, and hit the ground
Guest antlers21
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! You may have to hang it outside and let mother nature take its course and then turn it into a practice arrow.
dogdoc
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! try a scent eliminator spray. or you can try our skunk remedy we use at the clinic. baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dishwater soap like Joy (we use lemon scent at the clinic)---mix all three together---wipe all over the arrow--let it set for about 20 minutes then rinse--repeat as needed to eliminate scent. too_pointer
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! I have never shot a woodchuck, so I don't know what they smell like, but I have at least a 1/2 dozen arrows that were ruined by deer hits hanging on my wall, I never noticed any smell ? I didn't spend any time really cleaning them. Maybe them critters really stink LOL too_
VTbowman
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! LOL I was 1st thinkin you shot a skunk when I read the subject line. LOL Throw it in the washin machine, just take the broad head off before you let your wife reach in there. Ummm tell her afterwards.... LOL Seriously I'd go with DogDocs suggestion. It sounds as good as any so far... Except for the washin machine...
bulldawg
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! I would just shoot it through your target several times. Being it is a drag contact on the arrow, it might just eliminate the smell for you.
Tominator
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! How about some of your mom's Dawn soap, hot water, and a 3M green pad. And one more thing-- STOP SMELLING YOUR ARROWS DUDE! It's just not right.

PAbowhunter4life
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! Groundhogs make your arrows STINK, no matter where you hit them. After figuring this out the hard way my buddy and I use to carry a ziploc bag with soap, water and a rag in it with us when we hunted chucks. After we shot one and recovered the arrow we scrubbed it off immediately. First chucks we ever shot we ended up not cleaning the arrows. Put our bows in my friend's car, left and went to get something to eat. It was about 90 degrees in the middle of July that day, when we came out from Arby's and back in to his car...... I'm not sure if it's there diet or what, but again, chucks make your arrows STINK

Straight Shooter
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! Sounds like you shot a skunk instead of a groundhog! LOL I've shot some of them in the gut and didn't have that prbolem of it stinking. Like was said above, was it with soap and warm/hot water. That should take care of the smell. Squirrelhunter91
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! Ok... deer and woodchucks are two different animals. Woodchucks are very greasy and just plain stank!

Squirrelhunter91
Re: My arrow smells.. bad! Mobowstalker, a headshot is pretty darn hard on a woodchuck. Plus, I'd like to keep my broadhead in shape. I don't want to ruin it on no darn woodchucks head when I can send one through the lungs and end it quick. Plus it makes for easy tracking.
