Guest Squirrelbuster
I have never ate Brown Bullhead before so I was wondering if they taste the same as the Channel Cats. Just wondering because I caught a few to try out last night and I am hoping they taste as good as the Channel cats because I can't get my hands on any of them since I live in NY. Guest Squirrelbuster
Re: Bullhead vs. Channel Cats [ QUOTE ] Watch em spines on the bullheads. Your hand will swell like a softball. [/ QUOTE ] Believe me, I watch out for them. I got a way to hold on to them where the spines are no worry but I don't have to try and lip them. If you have ever tried lipping catfish or bullhead, you know what I mean when I say they got some REALLY strong jaws. They were able to close the pliers I used to get the hook out of them on me as I put them in their mouth. Anyway, the way I hold them is by putting my fingers along the side of there belly and using the spines on the pec fins as support by by resting them on top of my fingers. By doing this the spine on the dorsal is out of the way, and the tips of the spines on the pecs are facng out away from my hands. So far it has worked without a scratch. Tominator
Re: Bullhead vs. Channel Cats I can't believe y'all eat any kind of catfish. Course, your catfish probably don't feed on PCB's and mercury like ours do.

One spot is in the Susquehanna River, the other is at the Whitney Point Reservoir. In the Susquehanna, I would not eat anything that came out of that, but I have no problem eating catfish that came out of the reservoir because it is not really polluted. Tominator
Re: Bullhead vs. Channel Cats To be honest, I either catch and release, or give my fish away. I can't tell you how much Walleye I've given away. Just don't care for it.

I just release unless my family wants some, because I don't like the taste of most fish, but when it comes to Catfish, I love them.
