Tominator
Man, I'm up to my ears in flies. Happens every now and again because of the chicken farms nearby. Anybody have a good remedy for killing flies outdoors?

lil hunter
Re: Troubles With Flies my cousin got an electronic fly swatter for his b-day. You hit a fly with it, it goes "zzzz" and the fly drops outta the air. You should buy one, you can easily get hours of entertainment. wtnhunt
Re: Troubles With Flies Epps giant biting fly traps work well for biting flys, but does not work for houseflies. Our trap catches thousands of deer and horseflies a week. farnam.com has some pretty good pest control products, but they are a bit pricey. snapper
Re: Troubles With Flies Terminix....expensive, but worth it!
wtnhunt
Re: Troubles With Flies If you are looking at chemicals or a pest control company such as terminix, foggers and flybaits can work well at a fraction of the cost terminix will charge you. Permethrin is a good insecticide, pretty well kills most any insects out there including termites. Think the propane foggers use a pyrethin that does not have much residual, but will kill the flies and control an area for a short time. too_pointer
Re: Troubles With Flies It has been so dry around here the bugs don't seem as bad as before. If you find something that is cheap and really works well, let us know too_
Tominator
Re: Troubles With Flies So far the cheapest method is giving my kids a swatter and telling them to go to work. I might have to offer a bounty to them. Dug around and found 2 fly strips, hung one in the garage and one in the alcove by the front door. I also got some Permerthrin spray and drenched the house and garage pretty good. We'll see if that does the trick.
spyderpancake
Re: Troubles With Flies In the horse barn where i work we have a fly system that sprays every 30 minutes. Outside though, the yellow flies from the swamp are so bad that i have to keep the horses at a trot to keep them from losing too much blood! Turkeygirl
Re: Troubles With Flies Go to a store that has horse supplies. There is a fly trap, kind of like a bottle, that attracts flies (regular house flies or any flies I think) and they get stuck in the bottle. We got one and it worked. I think they are relatively not too expensive. Or use the sticky fly tapes which are cheap.
