Shaun_300
Has anyone ever tried one of these outfits? I tried my friend's today, MAN that was COOL! I have a hump that i fish at in the middle of the lake. it goes from 40' up to 14' then back down. i took it out there to see what it looks like. its a monster rock pile, and man did i ever see some big fish out there! a few smallmouth around 6 pounds, lots 4 pounds+, saw a few walleye and TONS of whitefish and suckers. then a school of around 100 perch came in to check out the cam. It was neat to see the fish react to the camera, they'd come up, get real close, and bump it with their nose... i sure had a good afternoon playing around with it, now i want one! fisherguy
Re: Aqua-Vu ya, i have played with one a few times. the one thing i found was that the visibility wasn't that great even on teh expensive model in deep or murky water...and it is really frustrating when you can use it to verify you are on fish and they won't bite. I think the best was when we watched a good size lake trout(hard to judge size with those cameras) maybe 20 pound range nail the camera. Luckily no damage aside from some teeth marks in the rubber coating.
Guest Andrea
Re: Aqua-Vu My question is this: How well do they work, or DO they work in a river????? I don't fish any lakes down here, just rivers. That's where the big catfish are. But I wonder how current affects them and about the visibility. ???????????????????????????????? fisherguy
Re: Aqua-Vu current is fine, they can come iwt a fin to keep them tracking straight. In dirty water i doubt it would be of much good though.
Shaun_300
Re: Aqua-Vu Golden Lake, the lake I fish on is really clean and clear. i was using it in 15-25 feet of water, i did drop it down to 35 or so and still got crystal clear images of the fish. it was pretty neat! i didnt have my rod with me when i was using the camera though, i should have taken it, might of had some BIG smallies........ billkay
Re: Aqua-Vu I know it's THE thing to have around here for ice fishing. The key is to mount it so it hangs vertically, looking down on your bait. At least for ice fishing.
horst
Re: Aqua-Vu Rivers arent a good spot to use them. The waters easily riled up and the current usually keeps things real muddy in them, visibility would be poor at best in a river unless yours are a lot cleaner then our are.A couple guys here in town have them and tried them in the rivers and it just looks like chocolate milk on the screen
SaskMan
Re: Aqua-Vu [ QUOTE ] the lake I fish on is really clean and clear. i was using it in 15-25 feet of water [/ QUOTE ] Shaun, if it is really clear what are you needing a camera for. In the clean clear lakes we spearfish in we can see the bottom from the boat in 20 feet of water. If you can't see 15 feet down it can't be that clear, not disputing that it is clean and clear but in REALLY clear lakes you can see that far from the boat. By the way, the cameras are neat but they will not catch fish.
Shaun_300
Re: Aqua-Vu Saskman, i guess the lakes up in Sask are REALLY clear then, we're lucky to see 12 feet. in this area of the province anyway. i agree with they wont catch fish, i didnt even bother taking my rod, i'd just end up getting frustrated that the ones on the screen wouldn't bite my bait! fisherguy
Re: Aqua-Vu actually shaun, its a good thing you didn't...it is illegal to use an aqua view and fish. I love tteh real deep trout lakes where you can see a 10 pound laker 20 feet below your boat eyeing up your bait. That is fun!
