Guest Andrea
I don't know the correct name for these guys but we call them "goggle-eyes' or "speckled jims". Caught a ton of those, some jackfish, bass and catfish. Took my son in the canoe and put in at an old lake off of the river and caught the jackfish with a spinner bait. That was fun. And I actually hung a gator that pulled the canoe a few feet before he got off. (Thank God---or else I woulda chunked the reel and rod) Anyway, gonna fry these babies up tonite. Guest Andrea
Re: Here\'s my catch: Nope, not stumpknockers. If they were...I'd have beaten the state record about 20 times. Also known as warmouth bass, warmouth perch, redeye, goggle-eye and goggle-eye perch.

Guest Andrea
Re: Here\'s my catch: [ QUOTE ] i call em bluegill. and the jack fish are northerns [/ QUOTE ] Ummm, yeah the jackfish are very similar to northerns, the freshwater game commission here in Florida classify them as chain pickerels though. And bluegills are a totally different species of panfish. The warmouths are much thicker, with red eyes and a HUGE mouth. Similar to bass. I WISH the jackfish got as big as the northerns do. bulldawg
Re: Here\'s my catch: Nice batch of fish. I catch warmouths now and then up this way too. They taste good, but aren't as firm of a meat as bluegills are.

You have northern pike, musky, chain pickeral, grass pickeral, yellow pickeral........... Size and location are the main difference, the 2 most northern, musky and northerns grow much larger than the others. Looks like a great day fishing.
