Racoon Bait.

Recommended Posts

Well i am in teh city for college and have a racoon problem. Not sure how many, but they are making a racket trying to get into my garbage can at night so i wanna take care of them. My landlord has a live trap in the basement(in the city, so no shooting) but i don't know what to use for bait. Preferabley something i have in the house. We don't have racoons up north so i am winging it here. I assume that garbage would work, but i want something neater...how about a peanut butter sandwich with some bacon grease? any suggestions would help. I hope to go release any i catch in the river...but may have to settle for a park...these big cities are full of weird people who wouldn't appreciate some swimming coons.

Re: Racoon Bait.

I use tuna! I poke a hole in one end and run a wire through it making a loop, then I poke a couple of holes in the other end! hang the can from the top of the trap above the trip lever! this keeps the coons from setting them off by reaching through and playing with the bait!
