tedicast
Found this on Jayski's website. The more I think about it, the more I think it would be a great move for JR., to drive for RCR. You have to read between the lines a bit, but it sure seems as if Jr. is throwing some hints around in the interview. Copied from JAYSKI'S.COM Childress would welcome Dale Jr....if....: Richard Childress does not see Dale Earnhardt Jr. leaving Dale Earnhardt Inc., after the season, but if that happens, his door is open. “Junior has his own deal working good at DEI, and I hope it all works out for him,” said Childress, who won six Nextel Cup championship with the late Dale Earnhardt. “I think it will (work out), ’cause it’s a really good organization. I also would say if he ever left there, I’d sure hope he’d come this way. I know what Dale Sr.’s vision and dream was with DEI,” Childress said. “It was to build that operation for Dale Jr., (sister) Kelly and his family. Dale Jr. has done a great job of representing DEI and what they want to do, so it’s a good deal.”(The State)(6-24-2005) MORE......Does "Little E" ever wonder if it might be better if he had moved on out of the DEI team his father founded and went to the Childress team his father drove for? "Yeah!" he says, cheer suddenly rising in his hoarse voice, his eyes brightening. "And I think about that. And that's still -- that's always an option." As the only man alive who could carry "3" on his door panels with public approval and indeed celebration, and with his Bud sponsorship willing to follow him wherever he goes, it would seem he could pick up the phone and virtually be there. "Right," he confirmed. "Yeah. Richard and I haven't really sat down at a desk to talk about it, but he owns the number '3' and I want to drive the No. 3 race car before I retire. I've told Richard I want to finish my career in his race car, or in a No. 3 car if he and Teresa [Earnhardt] can come to some agreement or whatever." He means a transfer of ownership of the number. His stepmother, Dale's widow Teresa, owns Dale Earnhardt Inc. and has the ultimate say, although Richie Gilmore runs the company for her. She rarely comes to races or appears in public and doesn't speak with the media. Earnhardt Jr. is under contract to her through 2007. But could something be worked out? And how long would it take? "Oh, if everybody was for it, less than 24 hours, I would assume," Earnhardt said. "But I don't see that happening. I mean, not everybody's going to be cool about it. I don't think Teresa would want me to leave, in the first place."(See very large and interesting column at the Orlando Sentinel)(6-25-2005) I think Jr. would do very well in a structured orginaztion. DEI seem to be majorly lacking and serious leadership. I think it would take a ton of pressure of off Jr.

tedicast
Re: More JR/RCR Talk [ QUOTE ] nah, i think Marlin is going to RCR [/ QUOTE ] I highly doubt that. I think Sterling will retire at the end of the year, and take the consulting job that Ganassi offered him.
Chrud
Re: More JR/RCR Talk DEI is too family oriented. Junior, Harvick and Bowyer would make a pretty nice team at RCR.
dg
Re: More JR/RCR Talk I've been watching Jr this year and observing and listening to the "family squabbles". I think he'll be driving for RCR in a year or two. Whether he drives the Black #3 is to be seen. But anything less will be a shame. I'll accept him as a driver for the #3. Nobody else is qualified. I predict he'll drive the #3 within a few years and bring back the magic. I hope like ****. I want to see it (Black #3) back on the track with an Earnahrdt. [/ QUOTE ] Junior wouldn't be at RCR until the 2008 season, if he does go there. DEI better get it straight and not let Truex go. They still haven't gotten him a good contract and he's the best driver on the market.

slugshooter
Re: More JR/RCR Talk I just can't see it happening. I mean, to truly be in his dads ride, Childress would have to get rid of Harvick, and hasn't he said he is happy with Kevin? I readily admit it would be an enormously popular move, but the RCR of today is not the RCR of Earnhardts day. Would Richard start a 4th team, or get rid of Harvick, Burton, or whoever is in the #30 at the moment.
spyderpancake
Re: More JR/RCR Talk There is no longer a #30, sluggy. It is now the #07 that Dave Blaney drives. I don't think he will be in that car next year anyway, so that would be an opening. If Jr did drive the #3 car, would it be GM Goodwrench or Bud? Chrud
Re: More JR/RCR Talk I can tell you that Happy wouldn't be happy if Junior came over and GM Goodwrench jumped on his hood and Happy needed a new sponsor. But, if GM did like Dodge does with Evernham, I think Harvick and Junior would make a very nice duo.
tedicast
Re: More JR/RCR Talk [ QUOTE ] If Jr. moves over there, Truex could slide into his ride. What do you think about that. [/ QUOTE ] I don't see that happening. My money is on Truex driving for someone other than DEI in 2006. Looks like he is the frontrunner for the #2 seat. Copied From JAYSKI'S.COM when asked about the Truex rumor, Jeff Hammond says: "Anything is possible, but I do know that everybody at DEI expected to get Truex locked in by now. There's been a lot more pressure put on him, especially from the Penske organization. They've offered him a fairly lucrative contract to jump ship and go over there. When that's going on, it really challenges a guy's loyalty. DEI has been more than fair with Truex, but he's faced with a decision that could affect the rest of his career. From what I [Hammond] was told the other day, an offer had been given to Truex, and there was a decision made then not to sign the DEI contract. It puts a lot of people back in the position of almost playing poker with checking and raising. Now the onus is back on DEI and whether or not they want to raise the ante to try to keep him in their camp."(FoxSports)(6-29-2005
Guest deldeer
Re: More JR/RCR Talk your all wrong.....JR is going to hendricks!!!.....they need a good oil change man there, & someone to sweep & mop up the shop afterhours!!!!!!!
James7xChamp3
Re: More JR/RCR Talk DEI is struggling as a company. Changes need to be made at the top. All the talk has been about Jr and crew chiefs, but there are bigger problems elsewhere IMO. Richie Gilmore is a heck of a guy, but I think he is in over his head right now. Theresa? I struggle to believe her heart is really in it. Anyways, Junior is an owner/sponsor's dream come true if he is available. Basically, he will have many choices on the table (probably quiite a few right now). It will be interesting to see what he chooses to do. Same for Truex. This guy is very popular also with many offers on the table I'm sure. An owner dreams about this duo running for them. Jr. and Truex will do great on their own, but put them together and maybe throw in a Harvick.............cha-ching! You need to have 3 or more strong teams working to compete now. All the testing opportunities that come with that is priceless. I smell some type of merger down the line.

spyderpancake
Re: More JR/RCR Talk Man, a DEI/RCR merger would be awesome. The dream situation- Truex drives the #1 Bass Pro car Junior drives the #8 Bud car Waltrip drives the #15 Napa car Harvick drives the#29 Goodwrench car Burton drives the #31 Cingular car Bowyer drives the #33 AC Delco car Kerry drives the #8 Bass Pro Busch car Wouldn't that be awesome if they worked together on the cars and everything? Keep the the teams mostly the same but change some leadership and share info. I think it would be a huge morale boost to have someone like Richard take charge. spyderpancake
Re: More JR/RCR Talk that would be 6 cup cars, but i guess they could let Bowyer drive Busch one more year and then let him have the #31 next year. That would make them he same size as Roush...
