dogdoc
Re: FOOD PLOT QUESTION...brassicas kc---I have never had any luck with spring brassica plantings. The biggest problem is the bugs---every darn bug likes to eat them from beetles to grasshoppers. The deer never touch them here during the warm months and if I did get some survive the summer the deer ignored those during the fall and winter and ate the young tender ones---so my suggestion would be to wait until late summer/early fall to plant them. todd

Tominator
Re: FOOD PLOT QUESTION...brassicas Brassicas, basically cabbages, are a cold weather crop. IMHO, you should wait until August to plant. And, I'll also echo what Todd said, the deer basically didn't touch the brassica I planted last year. Heck, my daughter and I ate more than the deer did. You might want to PM Strut10, he plants a fair amount of brassicas.
Tominator
Re: FOOD PLOT QUESTION...brassicas [ QUOTE ] it will only go so far and when the winter hits it dies! [/ QUOTE ] Not necessarily so. I have at least 20 to 30 plants survive the winter here in Ohio, and they are producing seeds as I type this now.
