ZooBear
I dont think you have any real problem yet. I use boiling water to clean mine. The heat dries the barrel very fast. Only after the barrel is dry do I use oil or borebutter ect.
AJ
Re: can a little rust hurt? Nope, rust won't really hurt them, unless it gets out of hand. I cleaned a buddy's Rem700 that he left uncleaned from December until thenext November. I did a lot of scrubbing and cleaning. The gun would still shoot 2 MOA groups at 100 yards. Guest longknife
Re: can a little rust hurt? I've used muzzloaders since i was old enough to shoot and i've had several diffrent type's cleaned many and had people bring them to me.The barrel will leach out more crap even after you clean it so at least once every two weeks take it down and run a oil patch down the barrel.the first after shot cleaning use dish soap and very hot water, continue the way you did it before, but this time use a rem oil spray for the nipple and nipple chamber the spray gets inside and stays there.Yes rust can hurt inside the barrel that will hurt the accurcy.put bore butter all over the barrel to season the barrel when you put it up and do the avery two week swabing you will see the diffrence the rust will cease to excist.hope i helped.
