Re: Carolina Panther

In my home county there have been sighting of black panthers in out area. I have never seen one and can't believe they would be in Indiana. These days animals have been moving all over due to game they hunt. Finding cougars in Illinois. Finding a dead wolf in northern Indiana.

You never know what might walk by your deer stand.

I think they're cougars that have come up from Florida.

Probably so. We found tracks back in the late 80's in our back yard in Central Florida that were supposedly cougar or panther tracks.

Have heard about sightings of black panthers around here, but never have seen any myself.

Re: Carolina Panther

6point,

i don't really know where Mackinaw is but when i worked in Alton, IL. I talked to a lot of guys who claimed to have seen panthers and even mt lions in the Jerseyville area.

My stepdad claims he used to see them in our neck of the woods when he was younger.

Re: Carolina Panther

We had some around where I grew up in La. The first time I saw one my friend and I were fishing on a pond right at dark. It came up on the dam and let out the most awful scream you can think of, we dropped all our gear and lit out of there. It would come through every year around October and March. Nobody believed us for a while, then on the way to school one day our bus driver slams on the brakes as a panther cut in front of the bus and proceeded to climb a tree on the side of the ditch. That was about 5 miles from the house. I've seen them 4 times so nobody can tell me they don't exist around there.
