What would you do? *Hypathetical*

Here is the synapses. You're hunting high over a steep, deep ravine. You're right over a VERY tight funnel that changes from roughly 75' to a 2' path because of briar's. This is some rough land. If you make the shot you have to carry the deer out of some stuff that is next to impossible to walk out of. If it gets away and dies later it will have been able to slip onto neighboring property or worse, slipped down deeper into land that a quad couldn't even get to.

Mid-day the biggest buck you've ever seen comes through the funnel. Its 10X larger then the buck you dreamed would walk through. Your shot is going to count more then any shot you've ever taken. Knowing that all deer behave different after a shot, what shot do you take and why?

Deer have lasted well over 200yds after a double lung, a neck shot is somewhat iffy sometimes, etc.....

You cant lose this deer but if he makes a 250yard sprint recovering this animal will be an impossible amount of work if you can even find him in the countless ravines, dips, creeks, etc. Also, he may end up on a neighboring property and fall at the hands of other hunters....

what do you do to stop him where he stands........

Really sounds similar to some of what I hunt. Thinking after what I have read here lately on shoulder shots I would take my chances dropping him shooting really tight into the shoulder and if I had a long near impossible drag I would just appreciate it after getting him out that much more.

Shoot it in the shoulder and worry about where he dies later.

If the area is indeed that tough, move so you don't have to think of passing on a trophy deer.
