Second guessing

I am kicking myself in the rear now for second guessing my judgement on a stand placement in the middle of a hardwoods. I posted earlier this morning asking about moving the stand back. I had it in what I thought was a great spot. Problem was deer were coming through behind me and not out in front on the trail I thought they would use and so with some suggestions and serious consideration I moved up the hill to a flatter spot thinking I would be behind them where they were coming from behind me.

After the wife got home this morning we rode back on the tractor and moved the stand back where I had it originally. While I was climbing down I saw a scrape that was just out of sight from where I had moved the stand to back up the hill. Got to looking and found 7 very freshly opened scrapes all within less than 65 yards of where my stand was originally set before I ever moved it, all along or within a very short distance from the trail that runs about 20 yards out in front of my stand. There were several scrapes well within my effective bow range and the trail in front of that stand is wore out.

I had heard a deer grunting down there yesterday morning and whenever I tried calling with my grunt it would grunt back to me, but I never could see it for the ridge on the hill. I did see 6 does come up and they walked on up to my right and on down the same trail I walked in on. I never walked down there yesterday when I got out of the stand to notice the scrapes.

Season will not be open here this weekend due to the youth hunt, so it will be the next following weekend before I get to hunt it again and that will open our muzzleloader season.

Think moving it back where I had it at is a no brainer now, but wonder if it is too late?

i would say its never too late as long as you jump on it now and get it done.

Already moved it back.

Will not get to hunt it again until Nov 6th with the muzzleloader, really hoping the activity there is still hot, should be. Should be into the pre rut here and think I will try a bit more aggressive calling. The deer I never saw was grunting back to me and was opening scrapes I am assuming in response to my urinating in a mock scrape and my grunting, I think it thinks maybe it is a dominant buck, might have been, not sure I never saw that deer? Thinking maybe some more aggressive calling and maybe a little scent would be a good idea?
