Guest WhiteHead
Re: coyote\'s and turkey Yea, Had one at 20 yards one time, was afraid to shoot, might run the turks off. Let him walk off. SHOULD have busted him, turks never showed up.
NiteRunner
Re: coyote\'s and turkey Not a coyote but a fox came in to the decoys. He was carrying this little black bird, saw the decoys, started stalking them he started to get real close then...My dad just cackled out this loud aggressive yelping. That thing was gone, Fast! Also a friend was calling had one gobbling and it shut up. Still calling a coyote came from the same direction as the turkey. So that coyote is history, it was about to have pups 2. redbeard
Re: coyote\'s and turkey Dropped one with a 10 gauge at about 20 yards as he came gallopin down a peach row I was set up in. Turkeys went to cacklin' and cuttin at the shot, waited an hour to fly down, then walked right past the dead yote. Never spooked or nuthin'
Rhino
Re: coyote\'s and turkey Just once that I can recall. It's been maybe 10 or 12 years now. Time flys when you're havin fun. What I do recall is with just a slight move of my head he was outa there. This was on a place I had leased just for turkey hunting but I only had it for 3 years before the owner decided to get into the game. Fortunately where I've been doing most of my turkey hunting we don't have a big yote problem. It's hard enough without other critters running them off. borch
Re: coyote\'s and turkey Has happened to me a couple of times. One coyote down the other was just out of range.
Guest ronin
Re: coyote\'s and turkey I've had several yotes go after my deeks while calling. I've also had a couple of bobcats come in as well. One of my co-workers was set up a few years ago and had a mountain lion come in on him from the rear while he was calling. Needless to say...dead mountain lion. PA_Spike_King
Re: coyote\'s and turkey The only time I have ever had a yote come up to me was in deer season. And once in the fall turkey season. Only had one good chance and I left it go and I'm glad I did cuz I killed a 16# gobbler 1hr later. LOL
Covehnter
Re: coyote\'s and turkey Several times, killed one this year on a set up. Killed one last year on a setup. Both birds i killed opening weekend of Ga season had coyote interference but luckily things came together. My dad had a big gobbler almost in shooting range and a coyote busted the set up. Had many more run ins so to answer the question, yes to many times to count.
waterfowler_gal
Re: coyote\'s and turkey My father took one in the Black Hills this year. He had some turkeys coming in towards him and they just spooked and took off... He said he heard "crunch crunch" behind him and the wind was in his favor and "boom" dead yote....
