lil hunter
That would be a lesson learned for me. You should have also told them there are a bunch of rattle snakes etc out there just to freak them out. That would really teach them. Thats some good disciplen though. I'm glad there step dad OKed it. You have to teach them respect somehow.
BoDice
Re: Will this be a lesson learned? Restitution unfair? Life's lessons lived and learned as far as I can see! I applaud the Stepdad for making him do it! Most folks would have fussed and yelled about you coming around inquiring! Naw! Just make sure they take plenty of breaks and make sure you have plenty of water or gatorade there for them to drink! You wouldn't want one of them to fall out while they were working at your house! If the world had more parents like his....maybe we wouldn't need so many jail cells! Be good! "BO"
buckee
Re: Will this be a lesson learned? Now there is a step-dad who knows what he's doing. Those kids will be too tired to think about revenge....lol. The only thing they'll be thinking about is "I'm never going to do something like this again". That is perfect justice and will teach the boys a very valuable lesson for sure.
buckee
Re: Will this be a lesson learned? LOL....I imagine they just want to get it done and over with. Keep them going on those fence rows. If I could make a suggestion. ...If it gets real hot, maybe you could bring them some lemon-ade or something. Showing them some kindness in the middle of their restitution to you will blow their minds, believe me. That would play on their minds in the future more than the hard work. It's like heaping hot coals on there head.
Tominator
Re: Will this be a lesson learned? i don't think revenge would be part of they're thinking for too long. you know, i think i'd call the sheriff just so it's documented, just in case they decide to plot revenge it builds a case for you, ya know? texastrophies
Re: Will this be a lesson learned? Yea I think it will work, to add to what Buckee suggested, you might think about cutting them loose early on the last day if they work hard the rest of the week. This might help eliminate any hard feelings or wishes of payback they might have.
Tominator
Re: Will this be a lesson learned? sounds like you got it covered. you know, when all this blows over and feelings are resolved, would it be out of the question to offer to take them out fishing, hunting, scouting? seems to me they had some idle time on their hands. maybe if someone offered to take them out it might turn them around. just a thought. i've done that with some of my students who get into trouble a lot at school. i've made some close relationships, but as yet have only gone hunting with one of them.
