Hillbilly
I didn't get to ask because I got up this morning around 5:30am and didn't want to wake them up. As I went by where I seen the two big bucks, and did see a doe with her twin fawns. I saw her head stretching out to see what I was. After she notice me watching her, she quickly dropped her head and that was it. I drove up the road and got a better angle at her. I saw her two twins about 15 yards away from her. I then looked up on the hill some more and saw the big ten I saw yesterday. I finally got a better look and could tell he was very wide. His brow tines looked to be around 9 inches long. He was a very wide and tall rack buck. Didn't see his buddy this morning but I bet he was there. I think I figured these deer travel routes for the summer and maybe even during the season. I know across the field close to the river there are two corn fields on the other side with some small timber. The place I saw them this morning is in some tall grass and a small tree line with plenty of shade. Then across the road is a deep dark thicket forest where I believe they also go and bed. I think I intercepted them this morning. I think they were on their way across the road. I'm going to ask next Saturday around 6:30pm. I'm gonna dress ina button up t-shirt and respectable Carhartt Jeans. Gonna offer them some work and let them know I'm a local boy and graduate of my high school. Been living 6 minutes from them all my life and wondered if they needed some does taken from their woods. Then maybe their let me take a one of the bucks. Thanks for the help guys! Tominator
Re: Got up really early. Went back to the owner\'s land Sounds good. If you really want that permission, I don't think I'd wait another week. If these big deer are really showing themselves as much as you're seeing them, guaranteed other people are seeing them too. Go ask tonight. Worst that can happen is they say no. Just my .02.
NY911Bowhunter
Re: Got up really early. Went back to the owner\'s land BreakThrough (or is it Casey?????) I am in the same boat with a farm opposite a cemetary I mow. I was looking at the cemetary on an ariel map and realized the property behind the barn is alot - and looks good. I just need the testicular fortitude to ask. Good liuck
wtnhunt
Re: Got up really early. Went back to the owner\'s land Persistence is good, but being pushy may not be so good. When you do drop by if you have any jerky or a gift offering of any sort, that would be the perfect time to give them.
Guest Xen
Re: Got up really early. Went back to the owner\'s i'll agree with the gift idea - potted flowers are great for older women. always a good idea to introduce yourself first and try to find out what they like. my dad had a similar experience with a private campground. an old lady runs it, and once when he was going into town, she asked him if he'd get her a bottle of iced tea, he came back with a full case of it and when he wouldn't take any money for it, she gave him a key to the campground. now he never has to pay to go camping and has year-round access to a campground that opens on memorial and closes on labor day. he got the key, but every time he goes up, he takes flowers for the two old ladies that run the place.
