VermontHunter
Need some info on the best broadhead to use on BEAR,,,,this would be a great question for BCBOY, or any other hunter that has gone after these massive animals with a bow...... This is the setup I will be using... Alpine Fatal Imapct 29.5" Draw at 62 lbs. GT 5575 shafts, and I usually use 100grn. heads. I have been told that the ribs on a bear create a somewhat solid bone mass, there for mechanicals shouldn't be used,,,,so if this is true I would like to hear what the best fixed blade broadhead is to use on black bear......that will bust through the bone and penitrate to the vitals with my setup,,, Thanks guys and any and all info will be greatly appreciated...... PAbowhunter4life
Re: BIG GAME BROADHEADS While I have never personally hunted bear, I have seen Ralph & Vicki Ciancurillo blow NAP Spitfires and NAP Shockwaves through a numerous amount of big bear. I have also seen Tom Nelson blow Grim Reapers through bear on American Archer. Yes, a bear is a pretty tough animal, but most shots are 20 yards or less, so any head worth it's salt will penetrate plenty out of a set up like yours. People have blown Steeleheads, Spitfires, Snypers and all sorts of other mechanicals through bears, so don't totally write them off unless the outfitter you go with doesn't allow them. In that case, any quality head such as a Muzzy, Thunderhead, Rocky Mt. Ti-100 or Turbo and an extensive amount of others will do a plenty good job on a bear. too_pointer
Re: BIG GAME BROADHEADS I know that the Muzzys are one tough broadhead, not had any experience on the mech's. The G5 Montecs would be a good choice also. too_
Rhino
Re: BIG GAME BROADHEADS [ QUOTE ] I would use G5's, but that is JMO. [/ QUOTE ] I'll 2nd that. They get great penetration.
Guest tyshe17
Re: BIG GAME BROADHEADS One customer at BPS goes every year...he shoots 70 lbs with 125 grain thunderheads...As a rule...the bigger the game the more arrow weight you want. I would contact your guide, or a guide in the area for more info
ladyluck
Re: BIG GAME BROADHEADS I used the G5 Montecs last year for my elk and it dropped within 50 yards. Great broadhead!
