mathews4life
well me and a few of my buddies went out bow fishin sunday night. For me it was my first time so they kinda showed me how it was done. For those of you that haven't tried it, then i'm tellin u that you have to do it at least once and once u try it ur hooked for life. No matter how good u can shoot ur bow at a target once u get out and start shootin under water its a totally diff. ball game. It has to be the biggest challenge that i've ever done and honestly i was gettin more nervous than i do when i shoot a deer. Even the guys that were w/ me who did it b4 had trouble shooting. It was a slow night we shot at about 50 fish and ended up w/ 11 total. All the gars were small that night so it made it even tougher to hit them. I'm already planning on getting another bow to rig out for bowfishing and lookin for a boat to rig up....its addicting....i just thought i'd share the story w/ you guys and if u get the chance dont pass it up.....mathews4life ....sorry know pics...maybe next time

VABuckSlayer
Re: first bow fishing trip They have bow fishing tournaments around here. My brother and I were fishing a bass tx on the Potomac River and in one of the creeks we were in there were 2 boats bow fishing. The were in a tournament. Bet that's a blast! Guest Squirrelbuster
Re: first bow fishing trip I deffinately know what you. I started this year too and I am stuck for life. Only I started when the carp were spawning and rolling, and that was the best because you can actually see them flopping around in the shallows, and when you do, the stalk is on. Plus when they are spawning there are more fish congregated in one area so there is A LOT more shooting.
muggs
Re: first bow fishing trip I'm thinking about getting into it myself, but I'm a little worried about snap back, did your buds have any feedback on how to prevent it?

lil hunter
Re: first bow fishing trip badbow4life, i think he's talkin about how the string attached to your arrow, can catch your bowstring, and cause the arrow to snap back at you. get some cable slides, or just slides that go up and down your arrow. If you'd rather not do that, tie your string to the front of the arrow.
Guest Squirrelbuster
Re: first bow fishing trip [ QUOTE ] I'm thinking about getting into it myself, but I'm a little worried about snap back, did your buds have any feedback on how to prevent it? [/ QUOTE ] The best thing to do is get some AMS safety slides and that almost totally eliminates the chance of snap back. If these are used the only way to get a possible snap back is if your not paying attention to the front of your bow and the string gets rapped on something in front of your bow such as a drum reel. I had this happen to me but the 80# line snapped and the arrow flew forward. The only thing that happened to me was the line snapped my fingers and gave a little bruise.
