James7xChamp3
Re: Atlanta Motor Speedway damage pics The 99 team was testing also. According to a speedway employee, all the damage occurred when Carl Edwards blew by the 48 at the start/finish line.

[/ QUOTE ] Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease! That's almost as bad as rooting for a Hendrick's driver! I do however have a soft spot in my heart for Mark Martin. Just like Dale did. RTF
Re: Atlanta Motor Speedway damage pics Man, I had no idea and I watched the weather channel yesterday and seen no mention of this. This really sucks. I dont think they can get the track fixed by the next cup date. This may play a major role in Chase for the cup.

[/ QUOTE ] An article at Jayski's had a quote from an AMS official that said they will pull it together in time for the Oct 30, Bass Pro Shops, MBNA 500. After reading about the damage, and seeing some pics, that is going to be quite a trick I think
texastrophies
Re: Atlanta Motor Speedway damage pics Wow, that is a lot of damage. Wonder why the flag wasn't taken down before the storm hit?
VABuckSlayer
Re: Atlanta Motor Speedway damage pics They will have to hurry to get all that fixed before the race. I'm in construction and this is the busy season. I'm sure they will find a way to get it done but it won't be fun and they better get started right away! Will be interesting to follow their progress. That's a shame! Eric

[/ QUOTE ] RTF is obviously use to working with Union workers - down here in the south we rely on folks that actually work! Seriously - Hugo blew through Charlotte in 88 and did some major damage to CMS only 3 weeks before the Oct. race and that race went on as scheduled....no doubt AMS is going to get an untimely face-lift but I wouldn't worry about no race in October.....they'll race. IowaDeerHunter
Re: Atlanta Motor Speedway damage pics That is some bad damage! I would believe they would still race their in October, but it is going to take some work, but than again they can do some pretty amazing things these days. NY_Bowhunter14
Re: Atlanta Motor Speedway damage pics its not a matter of concern if they race or not, its just that will they have the grandstands fixed for the fans, because if they don't they'll lose a lot of money... IowaDeerHunter
Re: Atlanta Motor Speedway damage pics They just said on TV that is was 40 million dollars in damage, and a 1/2mile toronado ripped through their. They already had a 150 people crew starting to clean up and said it will be ready to race in October.

While we all think it really sucks that AMS got hit - you should see all the houses that got level'd by that storm - now that really sucks!
