Rem308
I have an 870 Express 12 guage and it currently has the factory 'modified' screw in choke. I am wanting to get a tighter choke to replace this. Any suggestions as to 'full' or 'super-full'? I would primarily be using this as a turkey gun. Thanks. Guest gfourhunter
Re: Choke Tubes... for turkey i would get the rhino choke tube. if you want to stick with the rem choke system i would go with the super x full .
dogdoc
Re: Choke Tubes... there are several great extra-full turkey chokes on the market. Different restrictions seem to work better with different size loads. If you are going to buy a choke specifically for turkey hunting go with extra-full not just the normal full. todd
Strut10
Re: Choke Tubes... I would go with neither (of Remington's factory tubes). Spend the little bit of extra cash and get a premium after-market tube in the .655" - .665" (for #5 or #6 shot) range. You will be glad you did. Guest Xen
Re: Choke Tubes... rhino chokes are between 2x and 3x the price of the rem chokes. if you're just getting a nice tight choke for hunting turkey, i wouldn't shell out a lot extra for a brand name. odds are it won't see 100 rounds shot through it. if you were planning on a lot of shooting through it, like sporting clays, then yeah, i'd pay extra for a better choke
too_pointer
Re: Choke Tubes... I use a Rem x-full in .665 extended for my 11-87, it works pretty nice. Different shells will produce tighter patterns also, like hevi-shot etc. too_
Guest gastj
Re: Choke Tubes... I use the Rem. Ventilator. It is ported and about four inches of restriction. It retails for $25-30 dollars and with my Win. High Velocity 6's will flat out take there head off to 30ish yds. I like it but thats my 2cents. Guest CBU93
Re: Choke Tubes... May I make a suggestion, of which I will probably get slammed... Go to Wal Mart right now and look in the sporting goods section for a Star Dot turkey choke. I found several about this time last year for $1 a piece. Throws a pretty good pattern for me, and you can't beat the price. That is NOT a typo...$1, uno, a Washington, one, a single, four quarters, ten dimes, 20 nickles, 100 pennies, one dolla... Guest Xen
Re: Choke Tubes... you could always look for a fixed choke barrel, sometimes you can pick them up at a yardsale for $15 - it might need to be refinished, but if it's just for hunting, maybe not... unless you're set on getting a choke

Guest Hi-Tech RedNeck
Re: Choke Tubes... I have the same exact setup as gstj and It perfroms well enough for any turkey I want to shoot. REM 1187/REM Ventilator Choke/Millet reddot scope/Win #6 HVs. Lethal to 45 yds. How far far do you really need to shoot to back a bird?
