Guest wthomaslee
Saw this in Gun hunter magazine. The 6.8 is a 30 rem necked down to a .270 cal. loaded with light weight bullets. Felt recoil in a rem 700 with a 115 grn bullet is 1.6 foot-pounds lighter than with a 100 grn 243 round!! It seems that this new round is on its way. The rumor is that CZ, Kimber,Thompson Center, and Remington all have guns in the works. Dies are available from Redding. Barnes will be producing a 110 grn Triple Shock bullet. The round is no longer than a 223 but shoots 2800 fps at the muzzle from a 22" barrel. As soon as they get here locally I will get one and try it out. I had planed to get a 30-30 for my Sister but think I have found something better. Ya'll may have heard about this new round but this is the first I have heard about it it. If anyone has one I would love to hear about it.
AJ
Re: Remington 6.8mm SPC Until the ammo makers start making sporting loads, its not going to do much. There was a thread about it early last month. You can read it here. Here is a magazine article on it.
Guest wthomaslee
Re: Remington 6.8mm SPC Opps... Thanks AJ on the other thread. Must have missed that one. But after thinking about it all day maybe my sister would be better off with something else anyways. She is small and weak so it has to be a light rifle with little or no recoil but I would like it to have at least modorate knock down. Maybe a Model seven in 243 will have to do for her.
