waterfowler_gal
I am looking to purchase my first muzzleloader... I want a decent durable gun but don't want it to break the bank account either... any suggestions... Thanks
AJ
Re: Need some advice A couple of very decent affordable guns are the Knight Wolverine and the T/C Black Diamond. Both will work very well. I have owned both in the past and have killed deer with them. Both can be had under $300.
Guest coop2564
Re: Need some advice Checkout the NEF sidekick and huntsman. Great shooter for money. Huntsman can change barrels to rifle. My huntsman will flat shoot! And very easy to clean.

hutchies
Re: Need some advice Even the CVA Optima. I don't know what the price difference between the pro and the regular optima but the regular optima is $200.00 at wal mart.
christsavedme
Re: Need some advice In my honest opinion I would say save your money and try and find a used Encore. My father-in-law just walked into a deal....he got an Encore with a Leopold 3x9x50 for $500. The guy he bought it from needed the money. The Encore is hard to beat....I know it is pricey but you know what they say....you get what you pay for! JMO
pa_sportsman
Re: Need some advice I don't think that you can go wrong with a Knight Wolverine. Regardless of the manufacturer/model, I'd suggest purchasing the gun in .50 caliber. Articles that I've read indicate issues regarding .45 caliber energy and exit wounds on common game animals and in flight instability of the .54 caliber slug. Of course, each gun and load will act differently. Also, .50 caliber is the most popular for a muzzleloader and, therefore, slugs and accessories are plentiful and fairly easy to find. waterfowler_gal
Re: Need some advice Thanks guys it's good to hear some different opinions and suggestions. Once I get some time to get set up with one... I will let you know what I decided to get... I am gonna continue to keep doing my research... I don't need the biggest/baddest M/L on the block just want a good quality one that won't break the bank.... THANKS AGAIN....

preacherman
Re: Need some advice I shoot a Knight that was bought in a Combo pack for $200.00. I also put a BSA Deerhunter scope on it. Shoot it often during deer season and have never had to re-set the sights. It was indeed a good deal and didn't break the bank account.
