Anticosti Island

Has anyone hunted here before? I don't think I've ever seen a post about it. I think my first time was in 1994 and have been every year since except the last 2 as I went to Alberta instead. I hunted thru Sepaq Anticosti.

I really missed going the last two years. My Dad and I have some memorable hunts along with my brother-in-laws and a few friends. IMO it is hard to find a better hunt for the money. Accomodations are excellent and the deer are abundant and you can take 2 bucks. It is not B & C or P & Y country, but lots of character in the antlers. It's a great place to take a young one and they offer reduced rates of "father and son " trips. Very beautiful country also.

I believe they have the most whitetais per sq. mile. Nothing big. Your average 3 1/2 year old will be a 8 pt. in the 110-120 class.

Where I hunt thats a very good deer I haven't seen a deer that big while hunting in years!

A forum hunt would be as much, if not more about the comraderie than the hunt.

Re: Anticosti Island

I will post some pics this week of some bucks we have taken there. Again, it's not the place to go if you are looking for large scoring antlers. But.....if you love to hunt it is a great place. Awesome still hunting and also rattling works well at times......very good at times actually. It can be very exciting when the cards fall your way.

When I last went 2 years ago it cost me in the ball park of $1800 when it was all said and done. Includes plane ticket and food. It all depends on what the exchange rate is. In September and October it is around $400.00 cheaper.

OUCH !! $1800.00 for a non-trophy area.....Tedicast and I were just talking about this last night and he wasn't too darn far off the price...... crazy.gifcrazy.gif

LOL....ain't no way my wife is going to give any green light for over a grand........now if this was Sask. or some other Trophy getting hunt I may have seriously considered this trip.....but $1800.00 for a hunt that someone could do just about anywhere,,,,is crazy I atleast hope the food is good and the beds are large and soft..... grin.gifgrin.gif

Re: Anticosti Island

Comforts are excellent and the food is almost as good as the hunting. It was actually 1560.00 with the exchange rate (incuded plane ticket and license) but the 1800.00 is a bargain.

You'd probably have a heart attack at the price of a comparable hunt in the states.....lol.

Sask. or Alberta? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Anyways, this is the outfit I went with for 8 years and I highly recommend them. www.sepaq.com

Prices are Canadien, so you can deduct whatever the exchange rate is.

Re: Anticosti Island

I have a buddy who used to hunt there and got a real nice 8 pt in velvet. I thought they had a rule there now that you cant bring any of the meat or deer parts off the island, how about the rack? My buddy said he saw more bucks there in 1 hr then he saw the past 10 yrs hunting in PA
