Tominator
Re: any pointers would be appreciated!! Sureshot's your man here. That guy can flat out kill yotes. If it were me, I'd do 3 things (if legal in your area), keep the wind in your face, conceal yourself somehow, and tie a chicken down somehow where these yotes are showing up. Make sure the yotes don't smell you, if they do, they're gone, quick.

sureshot
Re: any pointers would be appreciated!! be quet gettign into your position, always watch the wind , always try to keep in mind were the coyotes are located when settign up,this way you can position yourself were the coyote has to come through a opening or cannot get downwind becouse most of the time a coyote will try to get downind of you!! I would like to tell you what types of calls or what howls to use but I have never hunted coyotes this time of year,I start once the hides get upand prime and hunt usually till mid feb once mating and rubbing comence, I would really suspect a distress howl at the end of a open reed call[make it sound like a young pup] and a rabbit call would work, make it sound like a pup has caught a rabbit and is either gettign ti taken away by another coyote or the rabbit is scratchign him, I ahve had great luck using pup distress along with rabbit calls in late oct! Good luck!!
