Hello. Now that I have pretty much decided to try some I need a few more questions answered. I will be using the 100 grn. How many use the practice heads ? They are kinda pricey, can you not just use a good one to practice with and just resharpen it after you use ? Also, What grain do you use, 85, 100, 125, or 140 grn. ? I also see they sell a sharpening stone kind of designed for the Montec, do you use that to resharpen or something else. Lots of questions, sorry crazy.gif

Thanks alot for your help and opinions

Mike

Re: G5 MONTEC USERS

Too I shoot the 100's with my bowtech bow shooting carbon arrows and 125's with my High Country bow shooting aluminum arrows. I have both the Montec sharpening stone and the Montec diamond sharpener. I prefer the stone. Once I get them where I want them with the stone I'll touch them up further with a ceramic sharpener before I polish them with leather.

I saw no need to buy practice heads either. Seemed like a waste of money to me when you can just resharpen the broadheads. Besides, I'm used to resharpening dull broadheads from sharpening the broadheads I use with my recurve.

Re: G5 MONTEC USERS

That Montec Diamond sharpener is a good sharpening stone Mike. You'll like it. You can also finish the sharpening off on a piece of leather or 600 grit wet/dry paper.

As far as the practise heads go, for the price, you might as well by an extra pack of the good broad-heads and use them for practise only. That way, if you ever run short of broad-heads, you can just sharpen them up and they're ready to go
