slugshooter Posted July 11, 2005 Report Share Posted July 11, 2005 Well, I got back from Florida last night and already had plans to go to Raleigh with a buddy of mine for the Outdoor Channels S.C.O.P.E. Expo and Michael Waddell just happened to be there. Let me tell ya, I hope everyone on here gets a chance to meet him, he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met and felt like he could have lived right down the street from me. He was open to any questions or tips and would joke and kid around with you like he's known you all his life. They had a time set aside for a seminar that me and my buddy went to but it was more of just a talk about his love of hunting and remembering where he came from and how we as hunters should try to do everything we can to promote the sport in a positive light. It was just a real good time. Thats all there is to say about it. After the seminar I finally thought of a question to ask him and I caught him in a hallway. I asked him how he could stand to ride them horses for so long on his Alaska trip that is featured on Roadtrips right now. He told me that that trip was probably one of the best and worst trips he's ever been on and that after riding for so long he felt like he had a "Thorn up his butt!!" We also talked about the forums and all and how I was in and out of here all the time, he said "Scott's done an awesome job with that." Just thought I would toss that in just in case Scott hasn't been feeling any love lately so he know's Mike talks about him when he's on the road. Took some pics also, the first is me standing in front of the Roadtrips truck which, for some reason or another, after the seminar, the doors were locked, probably after me and my buddy were checking out the inside, the second is self explanatory, me and Mike. He was pretty beat by the crowds and night before, right Tim? , but I thought the same about him. Real down to earth, tried to talk to everybody, and usally did. Great guy. When my buddy called me yesterday on my drive home from Florida and told me about it, I told my fiance that Michael Waddell was gonna be at some Outdoor show in Raleigh today she says, "Michael Waddell, is he the hottie??" I tried meeting Michael last year at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, MO but he wasn't able to come. Hopefully he will be there this year for the Fall Hunting Classic. I really want to meet him.
