The two farm brutes.

As some of you know I got permission to hunt a farmer's land. Today I went and shot the wind with him. After about 30minutes of good fellowship I told him I'd like to go out scouting. Well at 6:00pm I went out on my ATV. I went around the bean field and the two corn fields. I finally decided to go to the bean field again and go to the end of the field. I parked the ATV and went into the woods and found a bunch of deer droppings. I sat down on a stump and waited for the two bucks to come out. The first buck was a spike followed by the big 10. After they made it over my way the big S.O.B came out walking very slowly. I finally counted all his points. He was an awesome 16 pointer. He had three kicker points coming out of his left side. His antlers are very thick and looks like a 20inch spread.

The 10 pointer will be huge next year.

I found a tree I'm going to put my ladder stand on.

I can't wait for the bow season. grin.gif

Like some others said....STAY OUT OF THE WOODS!!! Go in now and hand stand(s). My suggestion would be to try and kill him the opener of your bow season and if no success, leave him be till November. Mature deer rarely walk during daylight hours between September 25 thru Halloween. And if they do, it is because they are not pressured. There are exceptions, however, but rarely. Most people booger up a site by hunting it when only does and skippers are on their feet. Big deer get big for a reason! Good luck...nail that 16!

Hang the stand now and by the time bow opener rolls around, all the deer would have long ago forgot the intruder in their woods. JMO. Good luck!

Tom beat me to it but I sure agree with him. Get your stand where you want it now and then leave that area alone.

Re: The two farm brutes.

Sounds like your on a nice buck! As the others have mentioned stay out of those woods once youve got your stands hung. If you feel the need to be around the area then you need to be a ways out with binocs or a spotting scope and glass the area, that away you know what they are doing come opener.

Good luck!

sonds like a great deer! I think you should try and trap him...then come opening day you can sleep in, go stick and arrow in him then take him to the check-in and tell whatever story you are able to think up between now and then! smile.gif
