Guest clayton819
Well last year a couple of deer where stolen from a guy that i know. well they found them last weekend. well the legs anyways. my dad showed me this a long time ago. take a penny and make a little slit at about the elbowin the rear leg and slid that penny in. just remember the date on the penny. well the guy got bussted for for shooting a bear out of season so they surched his freezer and they found a couple of legs and racks that he was going to have mounted. well one fo the rangers noticed that he had seen one of the deer befor. he called my buddy and he sent a pic to him and it was the same deer. well lat night they showed up and brought back the rack and all the legs they had found well he looked throw them and the penny was still in there. so from now on im puttong one in. Guest MCDillinois
Re: stealing deer Are you talking about deer in a pen that were stolen alive or deer that had been shot, gutted and hung??

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: stealing deer Surely it was a dead deer. You wouldn't be slicing open live deer and inserting pennies.

AaronS
Re: stealing deer I haven't heard of the penny trick but I like it. An old trick I've read about is cutting out the tongue and putting it in your pocket until you get back to the animal. I can see where the penny would be more discreet and less messy. Bow Hunter Derek
Re: stealing deer Um, I'm going to ask a dumb question here. Why would he have a deer's legs in the freezer? If it is meat from the leg, I'm thinking a copper penny exposed to raw flesh for a long time, can not be good. Ok, I admit it, I'm lost on this one. Thayer
Re: stealing deer And we wonder why deer hunting is going to die! Not to preach or anything, but....if you were able to go out and get a 140" at anytime, through management statewide, this would cut down on the dumb@sses that have to do these things. How much can you charge for a trophy deer if everyone can get one on public land? I am not an anti...but management towards balanced herds, increased education on deer, (aging, biology, and nutrition) are going to give alot of people the ability to harvest an astounding deer. Kind of cuts down on the competition and the need to steal someone elses deer! Sorry for the rant. .
