tedicast
12 years ago today, Nascar lost one of its superstars. Davey Allison. I was At Loudon for the Modified Tour race the Saturday before he got killed, and got to watch Davey in the Cup Happy Hour. He got killed that week, and I had tickets for Pocono that coming weekend. Remember walking through the Souveneir trailers, and where the 28's was supposed to be was piled with flowers. I remember Earnahrdt, and Wallace meeting at the start finish line after the race, and holding up a #28 flag. Davey along with Alan Kulwicki were my two favorite drivers at the time. That was a tragic year for the Cup series.

James7xChamp3
Re: 12 Years Ago Today I was at his last race in Louden. I was never a Ford fan, but for some reason after watching that race I really took notice of him. After the race, I went to his trailer all decked out in my Earnhardt attire and bought a real nice T-shirt of him. Never got to wear it as he passed that week. It was definitely a sad time......still is.
slugshooter
Re: 12 Years Ago Today Has it really been twelve years? I was at his second to last race, the Pepsi 400 at Daytona, which incidentally was the first race I ever attended. I remember going through my pics I took after he died and the pic where I would have gotten a real good shot of his car on the opening pace laps, the view was obstructed by some idiot waving a towel in the air like a rally towel or something. I did find another pic of his car, not as good as the other would have been.

VABuckSlayer
Re: 12 Years Ago Today My wife was a big Davey Allison fan. That was a sad day for sure. I remember being in shock when I heard about it. He wasn't my favorite but I liked him and Bobby. You have to feel bad for Bobby. His bad wreck ended his career and then losing both Davey and Clifford... that's tough! He's a strong man! I wish Rusty would put the old Miller High Life colors on the car one more time before he retires just to remember Bobby with it! I have to think that Richard Petty's 7 Championsipd wouldn't be tied yet. I think they would have taken a couple away From Dale Sr., and Gordon.
