Turkeygirl
Re: spotlighting Never really spotlight. I'll go for walks in the evening and look at deer through binocs. I do find spotlighting annoying when people spotlight our pasture and woods which I think I read in the DEC regulations you have to have permission to spotlight someone's land. Oh well, it is a good way to see deer I suppose.
VTbowman
Re: spotlighting Illegal in VT to spot light -period. Even on your own property. I suppose its to try and curb poaching but I dont think it helps much. Just like any other game related laws. They only take away from the law abiding people cause the poachers will still do it.. Guest tunkhannockbowhunter
Re: spotlighting wow i didnt realize spotlighting was illegal in some states. thats a shame cause it is a fun past time here in pa. almost all the hunters i know head out and do some spotlighting

snapper
Re: spotlighting Started spotting a few weeks ago. Haven't hit my main areas real hard...but its nice to see whats out there. It really is a fun past time. We like to make at least one time a year where we have 4-5 people in my truck with usally 3 lights, still camera, video camera and lots of different power of optics! Always try to be respectful of people's homes and livestock (which is illegal to spot in PA). Sometimes it happens, but never intentually. Squirrelhunter91
Re: spotlighting Yup. We drive around our usual areas spotlighting. It is legal here in NY and from a vehicle you can do it. You just can't possess a firearm capable of taking down a deer.

SaskMan
Re: spotlighting I don't think it is legal here either, even without a weapon, wildlife harassment here too I believe. Even if it was legal I wouldn't, I don't think the landowners near me would be happy if I was out with alight in their alfalfa at night. Guest MCDillinois
Re: spotlighting Come to MD and spotlight and you will no longer have a truck, spotlight or drivers license! Sorry fellas, we dont want it here but I am sure you all that can do it, enjoy it. I personally would not do it even if it were legal. We lay off our deer entirely till deer season and give them the most stress free, least pressure as possible-atmosphere that we can. We have a great population of big bucks on the shore and spot lighting would only encourage poaching. Not saying poaching my not occur, but it is way, way minimal. No, get caught shooting a light in a field here and the locals would shoot you first before the wardens got there!!! We take our TM serious here! western NY bowhunter
Re: spotlighting I haven't started yet but I plan on breaking out the light / video camera pretty soon . Within a couple weeks most of the bucks should be pretty well fully antlered. I'm been seeing some good bucks while driving around in the evenings but usually I'll only see the bigger ones with the light.
