Guest Broncho10
I got 3 pics of this deer last week on cam. I saw him one other time on stand at about 400 yards. I normally won't take a deer of this caliber, but I really don't know if he will really ever make anything. I am working on getting good trophy deer in my area. Letting all the deer under 3 1/2 walk and culling all the genetic inferior deer out. I just am stuck on this deer, I don't know if I should take him out of the gene pool if given a chance or let him go another year and see what he does. My thinking is, if he is 2 1/2 he still has a little potential, if he is a 3 1/2 year old he probably won't make much of anything. You guys give me your opinion, sorry for the long rambling post. tedicast
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? I do a large part of my hunting on heavily hunted public land. Where I hunt, thats definately called a shooter. If you are questioning wether or not to take him, give him another year. He has really great spread, see if he gains any mass over the next year. fisherguy
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? Not sure if he would go 2.5 or 3.5, but either way i would give him one more year.
Gator
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? If you don't wanna shoot him, I will!!! Pretty nice buck, I'm not a horn hunter, nor a trophy hunter, so I couldn't really tell you what to do.
huntinsonovagun
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? I suggest if you can't decide, give the deer the benefit of the doubt. I say give him another year to see if he is any bigger, or if you really want him out of the herd, I would be more than glad to have that bruiser on my wall!! Rhino
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? Personally I decided some years back if I had to think about it, I really needed to just pass. Sounds like you are still thinking about it. He appears to have more potential than he's showing this year. It's your choice though.
IowaDeerHunter
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? Rhino, I always think that if you have to think about it then dont shoot. I think it is 2.5 years old, I would let it go another year, he has a lot of growing left to do!

Sam16
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? Man, i wouldnt be passin on him. But in your case if you want trophy bucks, i'd let him go. I just dont have the discipline to do that. Be satisfied with your decision either way.

dogdoc
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? Broncho---nice buck with A LOT of potential. Nice spread, not much mass, short brow tines. I would say a 2 1/2 year old buck. If you want him shoot him--up to you--nothing wrong with that buck. todd
Guest Broncho10
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? Thanks for all your replies. I appreciate it. I am pretty sure I will let him walk even if he gives me an oppurtunity to take him. Like I said before, he is not the caliber of deer I am after, the only reason I would take him is in order to get him out of the gene pool. I am a firm believer to let all young bucks walk to let them have a chance to become a trophy(in my eyes). I understand that a trophy to some is not to others. If I want some meat, I will shoot a doe. More of them need to be shot anyway. I keep studying the pics and the more I look at them the younger he looks to me. Thanks again everyone, for all of your opinions.
RyanH
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? If you gave him another year i think he would be just awesome!!! JimPic
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? If that's the deer you want to shoot,great!--he's a nice looking deer,BUT--I believe another year on him would really do him him justice. He looks to be a 2.5yr old and seems to have good potential.Whatever you decide,I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision. Guest Finn
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? I agree with letting him grow another year. I'd guess he's only 2.5 and should put some nice growth on next year....then take him out.
wtnhunt
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? I would have to take him here. Would have a really hard time passing a deer like that here knowing the leaseholders next to us shoot anything that moves. I would guess that deer is more likely 3.5 than 2.5 by looking at the chest and into the belly, generally the belly area of a 2.5 year old is usually more tapered back coming out of the chest at least on the deer here. MUDRUNNER
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? THATS A TOUGH CALL.ANOTHER YEAR MAY BE ENOUGH TO GIVE HIM SOME MASS AND MABEE EVEN TWO MORE POINTS.

Tominator
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? not even close to a shooter in these parts. then again, there's a huge difference between ohio and oklahoma deer i think. he walks a few more years in my book. I think too many people look over Oklahoma as holding trophy deer, it really does, but you could be right about Ohio hold better bucks, but has far as a huge difference, doubtful!! RyanH
Re: What\'s your opinion on this deer? I agree with Broncho on this one!!!
