What size peep with my sight?

If have a Trophy Ridge vertical pin sight so when I look through the peep, I want the peep and the sight to line up without any other daylight. Does that make sense? I want the inside of the peep to be right around the sight.

Hopefully, I haven't confused everyone. confused.gif

Anyway, question is...what size peep?

Re: What size peep with my sight?

I'm just the opposite Harv. I want the biggest peep I can stand so I can get more light through the peep. All I need to do is center the pin. Doesn't matter to me if it's a bigger circle. You still have to see the point you're aiming at too. Small peeps will cost you valuable hunting time in the early morning and late afternoon because they don't allow you to see the target in lower light conditions. JMHO Harv. wink.gif

Ditto Alan. Nothing more aggravating than having 10 more minutes of legal time, and a deer in range and you can't see your pin.

The bigger, the better IMHO.

I shot a medium size wagon wheel peep with my copper john sight and it fits like you are talking about. however it does depend a lot on draw length and things of that nature

harv---for competition that might be a good idea--but for a hunting situation you want the exact opposite. A lot of guys will even bore out their peep to make it even bigger. You will lose a good 15 minutes of hunting if you do that---and we all know first light and last light are very productive times. There are compitition peeps like you're talking about but I sure wouldn't recommend it--I have the larges holed peep available on my hunting rig!

Harv- that's neat.............how'd you do that?! shocked.gif

To answer your question, I agree with some of the other posts- probably depends on draw lenght and other variables. My advice would be go to a pro-shop and have them put on different peeps until you find a match.

By the way, my peep and front site line up like the upper picture- makes a perfect site picture if you ask me- I am very consistent with this set up. I have a cobra easy slide extreme- but don;t know how big my peep is- when I bought my new sight, it just happened to be the perfect size for my peep cool.gif!

MAN! That was definitely difficult to take a picture with a digital camera through the peep... grin.gif

Kidding! grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

I grabbed a picture of the sight and used a graphics program (Paintshop Pro) to draw a circle then positioned it exactly where I wanted it.

Re: What size peep with my sight?

I think you might have the wrong idea of what a peep is used for. It's used to make sure you're sights are consistently in the same place, or nearly in the same place. If you're off a little, you won't be able to see your front sight. It would be like shooting a rifle with just the front post.

A peep really doesn't have to be pinpoint small to be accurate.

Bigger is better when in a hunting situation--trust me.

Na, I wanted to know how you got that close to a buck? LOL! tongue.gif Also, you are going to spine shoot it, well, unless you are using a Math... laugh.gif

Anyhoo, I prefer the peep to just allow the glow ring around the sight frame to be bracketed. Like the others mentioned, it is easier to see in the dim light and it will keep your anchor consistant.
