coles
1st of all how many of ya'll use an o/u or s/s for waterfowl. ive been thinking lately about trading in my extrema for a ruger red label ss. i think just having 2 shots would make me concetrate on my shots more and i would waste less shells. also my 3 shot is probably just a wounding shot 40 percent of the time. so i dont know. just wanted to see what ya'll think. Guest CBU93
Re: thinkin about an over & under If we got the #'s of birds we used to here, I would not hesitate to use a double barrel. In fact, I think it would bring back some of the romanticism of the sport...at least for me. I have been considering buying one for several years, but alas, the funding has not been available as of yet.

Guest Xen
Re: thinkin about an over & under i use an over/under for duck and geese. i really like being able to have 2 different chokes. usually use a skeet and improved cylinder, which end up being improved cylinder and modified when you use steel shot
carbonhunter
Re: thinkin about an over & under I shoot a browning citori for m,y waterfowl needs and love it, I save money on shells and half the time the third shot is a waste for me anyway, also like the two choke options. clayman
Re: thinkin about an over & under Last year. I had a trio of snow geese come over and dropped all three with three shots out of my 10ga BPS pump. I couldn't have dumped all three with a double barrel. With that said though, an advantage to a double is that you can quickly and easily change shells. Say your loaded with #2 shot for ducks and you get a goose or two coming in and want to change up to a BB or BBB load. It's far easier to quickly change shells than it is with a pump or a semi-auto. Also the advantage of having two different chokes and barrels to select from. Take into consideration your blind set up. Is it conducive to a break action shotgun - can you break it open in the confines of your blind? Mostly though it's a personal preference. carbonhunter
Re: thinkin about an over & under Snows would be the one thing Id always carry an auto for, here we can only kill two geese so the two shots is all i usually need. like clayman said. Go shoot some O/U's before makeing a decision I shoot the O/U much better than any auto I've ever shot, but my dad has trouble with the weight. coles
Re: thinkin about an over & under i hunt mostly at a waterfowl refuge and there is no blinds. we just sit in the tall grass on the levies that run between all the lakes. so having enough space to reload is not a problem. also we can only shoot 4 dark geese up here so having multiple shots is not a problem. i shoot my extrema well so ill probably just stay with that but anymore input will help.thanx.
