johnf
I put up a hanging deer feeder about a weeks ago and went back Saturday and the farmer who's land I hunt let the cows and horses out into the pasture that it was in. (I knew he was going to) There weren't any good trees around, so the feeder was only about 5 feet off the ground. Needless to say, they figured out how to get 3 weeks worth of food out of the feeder in 2 short days. Yesterday I got some 10' X 1" pipe and made it into a tripod stand. The bottom of the feeder now stands about 8 feet off the ground. When I put the corn in the feeder, the cows and 5 horses came running with me up on the ladder pouring corn. Q? Do any of you have deer feeders where cows and horses are present? Q? Will they destroy the feeder? Q? Is 8 feet high enough? Q? I've heard that deer will run cows and horses off of a feeder, is that true?
wtnhunt
Re: The cows are in the corn!!!!! Dont use feeders here, but would think that if you have horses around the feeder chances are really good you will not see any deer. Cows and deer dont seem to mind each other, but it has been my experience our horses will chase the deer off.
