deerslayer06
I was reading up the LATEST at jayski.com and it appears that Mike Waltrip and Napa are working very hard with Hass CNC Racing for a ride in the #0 chevy in the 2006 season and then moving to toyota and running with them in 2007 (scheduled to be their first year in nextel/sprint cup) However.....Jack Roush has said he has talked to Waltrip about driving the 6 car as well. And roush's list is down to....... Michael, Sterling Marlin, Ricky Craven, Jamie McMurray and Mark Martin
tedicast
Re: Waltrip....where do you think he will he land? I think the #6 car deal is pretty much set. I think if McMurray doesn't get out of his contract with Ganassi, you will see Martin drive for one more year. As for MW to the Haas-CNC Racing #0, I think it is huge mistake. No one has ever done anything in that car, and I don't think Mikey is driver enough to get it done with inferior equiptment. Nothing against MW, he is one of my favorite drivers, but I think his carreer is over.
spyderpancake
Re: Waltrip....where do you think he will he land? I sure hope that he doesn't go to the #0-that would be disasterous. I hate to say it, but i think Mikey is on his way out unless he does get the #6 ride.
slugshooter
Re: Waltrip....where do you think he will he land? He'll either move the ole Aarons Dream Machine up into the Cup series, or he'll just stick with driving in the Busch series, that's if he doesn't get a top tier ride. If he does go to the #0 with NAPA, NAPA will bring more funding to the team than they probably currently have which means better equipment. The one hiccup Mikey has going against him is the fact that his four wins have all been on restrictor plate tracks, good showings at other tracks have been few and far between, and winning at Daytona and Talladega don't put championship trophies on the wall. RTF
Re: Waltrip....where do you think he will he land? I think him and his brother should start their own team and go into trucks. I would like to see him drive the #6 or the #
Steven
Re: Waltrip....where do you think he will he land? He should move into the booth with his brother. He won 4 races, that's probably 4 more than he should've. He is a better personality than a driver. Mikey, you're a good guy and everybody seems to like you, but you're not a top tier driver. Move in front of a camera and don't unecessarily drag out your career by going to Busch and trucks like so many others have. Get out while you're as close to the top as you're going to get. spyderpancake
Re: Waltrip....where do you think he will he land? [ QUOTE ] I think him and his brother should start their own team and go into trucks. [/ QUOTE ] DW already has a truck team-he owns the #17 toyota and i think the #11. Mikey is a better driver than a lot of people credit him for though. He may only have wins on restrictor-plate tracks in Cup, but he has won at several other tracks in the Busch series, including Bristol. I think everyone will agree that it takes a real driver to win there!
