kyhunter
Hello,i hunt out of a tree stand the majority of the time.It is a Summit Viper XLS and i like it very much.I also like ground blind hunting when i get the opportunity to hunt private land, but i hunt public land most of the time and feel safer up above the unexperienced.I will have to say that ground blind hunting with a bow is my favorite. kyhunter
Sam16
Re: treestand I always hunt from a treestand. I hunt private 220 acres and between 4-5 hunters we prolly have 10-12 stands up that we hunt from. Yes its much easier, dont get winded as often or seen or anything. If your looking for safety and ease, i would recommend trying a 15 foot ladder stand out. THey are easy to put up and only bout 70 bucks. Good luck

PAbowhunter4life
Re: treestand Well, where do I start. On the land I do most of my hunting on, I have about 5 Hunters View ladder stands up and a couple Gorilla chain ons up as well. When I venture to some of my other hot spots, or just new land in general, I take my Summit Cobra XLS climbing stand cause of the mobility. Being in a stand gets u above the deers line of sight, it carries your scent out over them so u don't get picked off as easily, you have a better view of the terrain, the list goes on and on. With all this said though, if I find a hot spot and can't find a good"stand" tree, I won't hesitate to hunt from the ground.

Guest Finn
Re: treestand I use Lone Wolf hang ons and various ladder stands. The best ladder stand to me is the Ol Man. Very solid and comfortable. The Lone Wolf is a great hang on - under 11 pounds, solid and absolutely quiet. To me, when bowhunting, quiet is the most important thing. Good luck...there's a million options out there to choose from.
snapper
Re: treestand The main reason I hunt from a treestand is to get a low exit hole and the arrow "should" be sticking in the ground on the other side. I use several ladders, hang-ons, and my Loggy climber. All have advantages and disadvanges, but my opinion...they are all better than the ground. elkoholic
Re: treestand While it is definitely easier to hunt out of a treestand than a ground blind, hunting deer can be incredably difficult either way. I do use a tree stand 99% of the time when hunting whitetail with a bow and I have both an API and a Summit climber. Hunting out of a tree stand does allow for more movement and scent control may be less of a bother, but you still have to do your part. No matter how you do it, you gotta love it. VTbowman
Re: treestand Yep -hunting from an elevated position gives you a better view of the surroundings. Plus can keep you out of a deers vision, in most cases if set up properly. I have several home-made chain-on types, a Tree Lounge, 2 ladder stands, and 2 Box stands that cover 90% of my fields, but I sometimes like to walk the log roads too. I have been more successful out of an elevated stand...
Rem308
Re: treestand I had always just used a stationary stand that I hang on a tree, then last year I got a climber (Hunter's View 12-Point from Dick's Sporting Goods). I love it. It weighs about 19 pounds and is a great climber. I have hunted everytime so far this year out of it. I used it this morning, but no luck. Today was a really windy morning, but it as just as secure and safe as any other in the swaying oak. It is a little bothersome walking in and out of the woods w/ a climber, but the freedom it gives you is worth it.
hoyt19
Re: treestand PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR RIVER EDGE. THERE IS A SAFTEY RECALL FOR ALL RIVERS EDGE HANG ON STANDS MADE BETWEEN 1998 AND 2001. My stand came out of the tree before I could hook my saftey harness up, My season is over. If you have one of these stands call RIVERS EDGE and they will send replacement parts
