Strut_Buster
Re: Buckmasters? Between the WTU, NWTF, RMEF, NAHC, NRA, and DU i think I do my part. I don't see the outcomes of the Buckmasters Especially arround here. I don't even know if we have a chapter here in wisconsin. The shows are a part of all the above and I don't have a problem with jackie bushman. I guess there do alot with youth and disabled people, but I don't see their habitat and advocacy mainstream. I'll stick with my Listed above. JMO
preacherman
Re: Buckmasters? no I am not and the reason being is because they called one time and asked me to join, I didn't have the funds at the time so I told them no.........what do I get in the mail a few days later? A bill for my membership. I call them and they say disregard it and don't worry about it. One month later I get a letter from a collection agency that they have hired to get my membership dues from them that I never started to begin with! lil hunter
Re: Buckmasters? I use to always like the buckmasters show, haven't seen it since TNN changed though. I am not, and probly never will be a buckmasters member. They called my dad, about 5 days in a row, askin for him to join. he always said he's not intrested before they got involved with tellin him the whole deal. One day, i let 'em tell me the whole thing(he probably talked 10 minutes) then, right when he was done, i said"i'm not intrested". beep. Not a call since. P.S. Racksio is right, it was spikekiller that started it. I remember one time there was a big thread full of talk/argueing about the scrubmasters. Them were the good ol days. RTF
Re: Buckmasters? Not a member and they screwed themselves when they sent me a book I did not order. I dont know but somehow I never received it ????? They said they mailed it, but I never got it. Huh ? They said I had to pay for it and I told them they can kiss my you know what. I have no use for idiots like that. Now a little off topic. I have noticed how Buckmasters have taken over the RSS feed on the net when it comes to hunting news. I do feel they are ahead the other major hunting websites. On my site I run RSS in my news rooms and you will see storys poping up a lot that link back to Buckmasters. I think Realtree needs to lok into this and start using RSS more often.

Swamphunter
Re: Buckmasters? I don't mind Jackie Bushman and I like what they do with the parts of the show for the kids, but like some have already said, its not made for the down to earth average hunter. I have also had some experience with the Buckmasters membership and was not impressed with it. I just like Realtree a lot better!!

7th
Re: Buckmasters? Now that is what I would like to see, setting on the ground and a slim jim sticking out his mouth with a Rem. ADL and Simmons scope, with his 10 year old son and a .243 handy rifle when a spike comes over the ridge (not to a bait site) and the kid gets his first deer. Daddy may even take a doe. ruttinbuc
Re: Buckmasters? I used to be a member some time ago, Scott. I don't know why I quit the subcription, but I am sure that my reasons were not because of Jackie Bushman. I respect the guy for all he has done for hunting. He produced a lot of video and most of it back when was geared toward education of the hunter in pursuit of whitetails. He had many a good hunter on his videos sharing tips and secrets that todays producers and writers call their own. The Jackie Bushman show is nothing more than an extension of himself when I sit here and think about it. His inclusion and caring for the disabled as well as his Young Bucks program shows his character as an individual. I think the contests and the audience participation stuff on the new show is that same character giving something back to those who helped him gain his wealth and celebrity status. I don't see a whole lot of today's hunting "celebrities" daring to be different. The truth of the matter is that the producers and writers of today's shows are looking for new ideas to an old game. Maybe Jackie Bushman is the first to test the waters with something different. One thing I always liked about the magazine was the stories of success from hunters from all walks of life. Like you or I are ever going to walk in Bushman's shoes, he at least gives you a chance for a page or two of "celebrity."
snapper
Re: Buckmasters? I get "Rack" magazine...but not a member. Main reason is...I like to give money to the orgs. that are fighting for my gun/hunting rights. With NWTF, NRA, NAHC and many other magazines...really can't fund to many more. The phone calls asking me to join are a little annoying...but no biggy. If NAHC sends me something I didn't order...it either goes in the garbage or I just keep it. I've told them more than once not to send anything...but they still do. Their loss is my gain!
Jeramie
Re: Buckmasters? [ QUOTE ] I was a member, but dropped my membership due to the constant bombardment of solicitations........I originally joined to be part of a once good organization.......the constant "harrasment" soured my view on it.... [/ QUOTE ] I wanted to join and I got entered in their "Gear Grab." The first call I got was at a horse sale. I was trying to bid and this call came in late in the evening on my cell (thats what I put in the gear grab). I told the guy to call back, I wanted to join but I was at a horse sale. He didnt take "Call back later" as a viable answer. I finally had to hang up. Thats when it started. They called me over and over. It may have stopped if I would have just joined but I was a bit mad over the first guy. I finally got them to quit calling, come to find out my wife had been getting calls for me, at the house. She finally decided to make it part of my Christmas that year and sign me up. Once that started in came the videos. I sent them back like youre suppose to and let them know, no more. Didnt work, they still came in for a while. I finally talked to a young lady at the company and she was understanding. Shortly after that I started getting calls about Books. I told the caller I rarely read anything other then magazines. Luckily it was enough and I never received a book. Honestly its been a few years ago so im sure im leaving some stuff out. Im a very patient person and they had very unhappy. Because of that I doubt I will renew. I enjoy the show but I enjoy most hunting shows (Short of Tred Barta ). I know they have to have money to operate but the cheap knife and few calls I received were'nt worth the hastle. I am still getting magazine and I enjoy them to some degree but they seem to be lacking too. About the only part of the whole deal I enjoy is the pics, in the magazine, of hunters with their first/ biggest deer. I really enjoy those. .........end of rant............. VTbowman
Re: Buckmasters? I am not a member. Nor a memeber of any thing I have to pay for. LOL I dont even have mag subscriptions unless someone else pays for them. Its all I can do to stomach 1/2 the hunting shows. Plus I have heard of others that complain about being pestored all the time by them. Just not for me.
Orion_70
Re: Buckmasters? I'm currently a member, but will not be renewing. There are several reasons for this actually. I find their magazine is poorly written and uninformative. The constant phone calls from them were totally bordering harrassment. The membership, magazine and gifts associated are severely overpriced. Their TV show is lacking a good spokesman and tv character I don't believe they have the persona needed to carry the show. To me it seems all their hunts are canned or preserve hunts that is not typical or representative of the majority of hunters.
