buckee
I envey the possition your in. If my wife and daughter loved hunting and shooting then I would definately try to get them a rifle that would suit their needs. Sounds like a great idea to me. I say go for it and get them something that, like you say, will be a little more forgiving on the shoulders. Your a lucky guy to have this problem. Strut10
Re: Is a rifle a good gift for the wife? The Mrs. always enjoys getting a gun as a gift. If the gals have been hinting around about it...........I'd say go fer it!! There's a good selection of rifles to fit the girls now. We went to a big shop and had them lay out about 6 or 7 guns that would fit my wife. Then she went through all of them and eliminated the ones that she didn't like. She ended up with a Browning A-Bolt Hunter in .308. Good luck!!!!!!!!
lil hunter
Re: Is a rifle a good gift for the wife? Sounds like a cool idea to me. If your wife doesn't like hunting, a 22 would be a good gun too. They don't kick, and they are in smaller modles. You also might look in to buying your daugter a bbgun. I got my bb gun when I was almost 7. I still have it, and shoot it now. They are really small so they can fit anybody almost.
jcwa
Re: Is a rifle a good gift for the wife? Sure it would be a great gift, since she has been hinting around about wanting her own. If I were you I would look at the Remington model 7 also, it may be better suited for a smaller framed person. Just a suggestion.
bulldawg
Re: Is a rifle a good gift for the wife? Hey, anytime someone wants to give me a gift of a rifle... for my wife... I take it!!.....lol. Now on the serious side, I say go for it; but also get her something else in case she was just kind of toying with the idea. The worst case scenario then, is , if she doesn't really want the rifle...you get to keep it!!

wishinone
Re: Is a rifle a good gift for the wife? A lot cheaper to buy it now and wait for your daughter to grow into it, plus I'm sure your wife would be happy to own a rifle to call her own. borch
Re: Is a rifle a good gift for the wife? Wtnhunt, I'd recommend taking her along when you actually decide to make the purchase. Have her try several guns out for fit and feel. You really want to get her something that fits her well. As far a caliber is concerned the .243, .260, 257 roberts, 7mm-08 and .308 would be good choices. But actually fit has as much to due with felt recoil as the caliber selection. Good Luck in your purchase! [ 06-17-2002, 11:16 AM: Message edited by: borch ]
