I have a younger brother that has gotten into hunting. So now I have a great life long hunting partner. However, I want to make sure he is safe, and until now he has been hunting from the ground or house stands or latter stands. he is now wanting to tackle my lock ons. what do yall think is the best harness? I want one that will keep him connected the whole time so he doesnt have to disconnect and connect while getting into the tree. Thanks for the help!

I have to agree with Griz.. The Seat-O-The- Pants harness that Summit sells, is an aewsome harness. I have actually dangled from mineonly a foot off the ground,, but it keeps you completely upright. After you put it on a few times it is a piece of cake.

The only way that I'm aware of is for you to install a rope that is attached above the treestand and attached to the bottom.

Add a MOUNTAINEERS HITCH with another smaller piece of rope and his harness attaches to that.

It will slide up as he climbs and prevent a fall if it happens.

I missed that the first time. I use my seat-of-the-pants, along with the Summit Climbing system, on all my stands. I am connected from the minute I leave the ground, untill I am back down again.

GW's got it, a mountaineer hitch, or a lineman's hitch, is what you are looking for! You can use it with "ANY" system. I took went out and bought climbing rope (enough for all of my stands), then rigged em with the linemans hitch, and hooked them above my stand (the rope hangs to the ground). When ascending or descending my stand, I hook my summit in, and it slides up and down the line. Essentially, the set-up that summit sells with their stands is the same priciple, but you have to move your rope up as you climb.
