Squirrelhunter91
Nuisance permits. My dad and I have access to a nursery that has 65 nuisance permits. This is in a bow-only area. We have been told that nuisance permits are gun only and no bows. Is this true? We have called DEC and we were just given a number to call. We called on Friday and today is Monday. No response. We also emailed DEC 2 weeks ago! NO RESPONSE! Typical. I see that a few of the NYers on here have gone on Nuisance permit hunts before and hopefully you guys know the laws. The houses are way too close near this nursery for a gun IMO. Last year 4 of us went with our bows without knowing any better, if there is any better. I hope you guys can help us out because DEC hasn't.
BuckNrut
Re: New Yorkers- questions about nuisance permits SquirrelHunter91, Look at one of your permits. In the top left corner is the person who issued the permit - that's the person you should try to contact. Most likely they located at the DEC station closest to the property. Remember that nusiance "shooting" is not sport "hunting". The rules are very different. "Bow Only" usually applies to "sport hunting". The land owner may have additional restrictions. Where I fill nuisance permits center fire rifles are allowed but the landowner specified "bows and shotguns only". You may want to opt for the use of a shotgun in your area. Check with the landowner. Happy "shooting"
