Tominator
Re: WABS/AJ - Repairing & refinishing 870 stock [ QUOTE ] I may just take you up on the offer. Let me see what Remington says about the replacement stock. I have to call them tomorrow. But I do have a couple of questions for you: 1. How long would it take? So I'll know whether to send it before or after the season. 2. Would you do the stock and pump "thingy"? (what is that called anyway?) [/ QUOTE ] If I busted my **** I could get it done in 2 weeks. Hardest part is getting the old finish off and the successive sandings from 120 grit down to 280 grit. The finish goes pretty fast actually, but you can only put one coat a day on it, so there's nearly a week right there. And yes, I'll do the "pump thingy" (forestock, or for end)
HarvDog
Re: WABS/AJ - Repairing & refinishing 870 stock Just talked to Remington...what GREAT customer support they have! Outstanding! Anyway, a new stock and for end are on the way. I'll be in touch Tominator when they arrive.
HarvDog
Re: WABS/AJ - Repairing & refinishing 870 stock BTW, I went ahead and ordered the for end to ensure the woods matched. Was that wise and just a waste of money?

The inside of my forestock on my Express did check a little, but didn't go all the way through to the exterior. The forestock is much thinner than the butt stock. Either way, no biggy. If you want me to do it in the 2 week turnaround, get it to me before the school year starts. Then I'll be up to my ears in work and hunting season. AJ
Re: WABS/AJ - Repairing & refinishing 870 stock I bought a few Wingmaster stocks off E-Bay for very good prices. You can get Express buttstock and forend for very good prices.
HarvDog
Re: WABS/AJ - Repairing & refinishing 870 stock Well...what the heck! I've already ordered the forend so both are on the way. I'll just send them both to you Tominator when they arrive. Actually, this should work out fine because general firearms doesn't open here until mid-November and besides, if you can't finish by then, I'll still have the original stock and forend still installed.
