H&R users,Which Shell?

Recommended Posts

I've been reading that they like Winchester platinum tips, barnes expanders,lightfields,remingtons...etc.You guys know how expensive it can be.Which of these would you try first?I really wanted to try the Winchester Partition gold, but I'm not getting good reviews. Most people have said their H&R 12ga Ultra slug likes slower(less than 1700fps)sabots.HELP!!Thanks guys!I'm more confused than ever. confused.gif

try the remington solid copper sabots, then try the federal sabots, they are pretty reasonable on price.. then try the federal barnes expanders.. they cost a little more, i get the same group out of the remington solids, & the federal barnes expanders..i use 2 3/4 only..the longest shot was 150 yards.right in the boilermaker!!!( with the remington solids) just remember all guns shoot all rounds different.. hope this is a good starting point for you..

Tailor your loads to your hunting conditions. If you hare hunting thicker areas where all of the shots will be under 100 yards, you don't need a super fast slug. Any slug will work fine. Keep it simple, use what will work. You don't need to get fancy just to be fancy.

Lightfields are all I use in it. When tested they grouped the best by far. I was hold groups of 3 that you can cover with a silver dollar at 100 yards so that good enough for me. You owe it to yourself and the game to see what works best out of YOUR gun at the range.
