could this week possibly get any worse? (pics)

Saturday (last week, I know) was GREAT... my b/f and I had a blast at a local car show where over 550 cars showed up. My b/f took home 1 of 9 trophies which were for the "best of the best" at the show. This trophy stands over 4 feet tall and is all of 30 pounds or more - it's no cheapie!

Anyway, after such a great day on Saturday... we went back to the show on Sunday where they had judging for the rest of the 90 plaques to be presented that day. Well, 2 hours before the show was over, I was walking around the show with my mom and happened to notice that the hood on my b/f's s-10 wasn't completely shut. Did I say anything about it? Nope..... and after we left the show, I had just stepped in the house when my cell phone started ringing. My b/f was on the phone and said that on his way home, his hood flew up and smashed the windshield, broke 2 of the 3 wiper cowl pieces, warped the passenger side fender, put a huge hole in the dash, messed up the upper part of the cowl and put lots of scratches on the hood. The entire truck is going to have to be repainted because there is NO way the paint can be blended to match.

Notice in this pic how the hood isn't completely shut.

and some of the damage......

I pretty much blamed myself for the whole thing.. although my b/f is taking full responsibility and said it was his fault for not checking it before leaving. To make things worse though, when I got to his house........ his Dad found out that I had known about it not being fully closed and started yelling at me and kept asking what was wrong with me for not speaking up about it. frown.gif Needless to say.... I cried forever about it.

If that's not bad enough..... my sister called my mom from a friends house this morning complaining of pain in her lower abdomen. I finally convinced her to go to the hospital as I thought it could be an appedicitis..... but come to find out she has cysts on her ovaries and has to go see more doctors later this week... then get more tests ran. frown.giffrown.gif If I could trade places with her..... I definately would. Everyone please keep her in your prayers!

All I can think is..... what's next this week? frown.gif

Well out of the two, the news about your sister is much more serious. The truck is just a material thing.

We have your sis in our thoughts and prayers.

Now on the truck, first it is not your fault. If he is/was driving it, he is responsible for it. But, man what a shame, that was a nice looking truck. Hope he had some kind of insurance on it.

thanks fellas......

He only had liability on this paticular truck as he only got it out on pretty days of the weekend or for a car show. This costly incident is hitting his pocket pretty hard but knowing him.... it'll only look a million times better when it's finished again. This now gives him a reason to start working on c-notching the frame... redoing the interior, and misc. other things. I failed to mention that my b/f was okay - just had lots of glass on his clothes. Trucks can be replaced/fixed...... but people cannot.

As for my sister..... she means the world to me.... thanks for the prayers!

It is not your fault. I watched this happen to a little old lady one day. Very scary to see it happen. She slammed on the bakes and stopped in the middle of the road. Could have been much worse for her. I hop everything goes ok for your sis....

It's not your fault Alisha. Don't blame yourself for it. Accidents happen, that's a part of life, unfortunately. Sorry to hear about your sis, I'm sure all will be taken care of by the doc's. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers, try and put the past behind you and start over with a clean slate. smile.gif

The truck can be fixed. Your worries need to be with your sister right now.

I will tell you this much, my wife was diagnosed with a cyst on her ovary 5 years ago. They first told her that she was carrying a dead fetus but after a couple of tests they got the right diagnosis.

Long story short, they removed a softball sized cyst along with one ovary and she has since fully recovered. In fact, she just gave birth to our second child since the surgery.

Our family's prayers will be with your sister.

Very sorry to hear about your sister. I hope she goes through everything smoothly and any treatements go well for her.

I bet you Boyfriend's dad felt like a bonehead after he yelled at you and then found out you are struggling with you sister's illness. crazy.gif He should have never given you grief for the hood. It wasn't your fault at all.

Who's to say your b/f didn't show off the motor work a couple times after you saw the hood?

When people show their cars in shows, they often open the hoods to show off what's underneath.

Common sense would say that at the end of the show the car's owner would make a check to be sure that all trunks, hatches, hoods, etc, were secured before driving off.

It's not your fault. And your boyfriend's dad is an a--.

Chalk it up as a history lesson.

Hope everything turns out ok for your sister.

Sorry to hear that, your boyfriend's dad needs to rethink life's priorities a little. Doesn't he realize accidents happen and your boyfriend, his son, could have been killed from this or someone else could have? God was looking over him on the way home and things like this happen, its part of life.

Everyone is o.k. that is the main thing, the truck can be fixed, his dad should count his blessings and I think he owes you an apology.

Hope the sun shines over you, you need some to brighten your life! smile.gif
