buckee
How long do they last ? and How easy is it to clean and refletch over them ?
tedicast
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? They last until you have to refletch. Thats the downside of the wraps, to replace a vane you have to replace the whole wrap. That is why they are only on my hunting arrows now, not my practice arrows. VTbowman
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? If your super carefull with a razor knife you can remove vanes/feathers from wraps. But its just easier to strip the whole thing and start a new one. I did both and just strip the entire thing now not worth the time and effort to remove one vane from a wrap. I find if your gonna go threw the time to wrap and fletch your own arrows then its wise to have extras of both. (wraps and vanes/feathers) JMO

dogdoc
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? No affect on arrow flight. The solid colors add about 10 grains of weight. Fairly easy to remove. Take a hair dryer and heat the wrap up then peel off. Use a little acetone to remove residual glue and your're ready to go!
tedicast
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? [ QUOTE ] What affect do they have on arrow flight? [/ QUOTE ] I shoot my practice arrows out to 50 yards, and group wrapped, and unwrapped arrows together. It doesn't seem to matter at all with fieldpoints. All of my broadhead arrows, practice, and hunting are wrapped. I don't want to take any chance with them.

buckee
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? Another question: When fletching ..Does it matter if you fletch right over the seem of the wrap, or should you try to work it so your on either side of it. I'm going to put a slight right hand off-set on my vanes.
dogdoc
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? i fletched my feathers with a right helical and I was able to avoid the overlap---but I don't think it really matters. todd
MCH
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? It doesn't matter Steve. I've hit the overlap on a couple of my hunting arrows and I'm still getting good contact and the arrows still group well.
LifeNRA
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? Ok, here is another question! What does the wrap do for you? It just seems like more eye candy? Or does wrapping your arrows help flight?
buckee
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? The way I see it John, there is no advantage to arrow wraps as far as arrow flight goes, ..BUT ...When you have some nice bright wraps, and you let an arrow go on a deer, you will see your point of impact much easier. That to me is a plus, because if it helps you see your arrow better on impact, it will aid in recovery of the deer also, because you can determine whether it was a "good hit", or a "Back off and wait a few hours hit". That can mean the difference of an easy recovery or a lost deer, because you bumped him too soon. Plus,it helps you find your arroews easier. And they look nice and custom too
VTbowman
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? Fletch em like its a bare shaft. Over lapp does nothing to fletching or arrow flight. I must say though they will add weight to the back end of your arrow, even sligthly on most wraps, more on others but this can aid in gaining proper spine for your bow. For example: I gained almost 53 grains by putting a 7" reflective wrap and 5" Bohning vanes on my GT 5575s over the regular 4" vanes and bare shaft, and they actually flew better. I also went form a 100g tip to a 125g tip wanting more MO. I lost maybe 2-3 fps by adding 75gs to my arrow but gained huge momentum... I use ONLY reflective wraps for easy recovery of my deer (if arrow is stuck in it still) or just to find my expensive arrow after the shot. I have a long history of shooting threw deer and NOT finding the arrow EVER again. I little wave of even a mini maglite has found several for me now that were snaked under grass and leaves, etc. Or shot out into fields at last light. Wraps are on ALL my sticks now... tedicast
Re: Arrow Wraps ??? John, You are right, for the most part wraps are just eye candy. But they look so cool!!!...lol I can definately follow the flight of my wrapped arrows better than my unwrapped ones. They make it a lot easier to find the arrow after a bad shot too...especially when the arrow is partially buried in leaves. The downfalls are the price of then. Some of them aren't cheap. Loss of speed...my unwrapped arrows are 4 fps quicker than my wrapped. I'm not a speed freak, and they group together oput to 50 yards. I think the main downfall is that if you have to refletch, you have to junk the wrap. For this reason ,now only my hunting arrows are wrapped, not my practice arrows.
