Can't hold a real tight group.

I think it is because I am not hitting the same anchor point everytime. One time i will have 4 arrow touching each other and then the next group is about the size of a Cantaloupe. I decided to put on a kisser button last night. Problem is I think the guy sat my peep sight up to low because the kisser is hitting me right about the bottom of my nose. Do you think I should go to the local proshop and have him take a look at possibly moving the peep or leave it and concentrate more on hitting my anchor point everytime?

to make sure the peep height is correct, draw your bow with your eyes closed, when you get a comfortable anchor point, open your eye and see if your peep needs to go up or down. then do it again and have someone put your kisser button on. Mine is only about 1.5 to 2 inches above my nock. Good Luck

I would check the alignment on the nock. sometimes that will cause a porblem. I would take it to a pro shop and have them lazer sight it for you. I paid 15.00 and it helped.

I would concentrate on hitting a good anchor point each and everytime. Try closing your eyes, coming to draw/anchor, and open your eyes, now looka nd see how your sight aligns in your peep, that;s how I found my peep to be to high.

The best thing for a consistent anchor point is repitition. Lots of QUALITY shooting. Pay attention to evey shot. A few other things that can be making you inconsistent are not following through. Dropping your bow arm. Work on keeping your bow arm up, until your arrow hits the target. It will become second nature after a while. Also an inconsistent grip. You don't want to grip the bow tightly when shooting. My hand position when shooting, is about the same as if I were holding a can of soda. Don't snatch at the bow on the release either, you could be pushing the arrow if you are snatching at the bow, before the arrow has cleared the riser. I am shooting an Outback, and I have a wrist sling. I don't grab at my bow on the shot untill there is pressure on the sling. All of these thing come with lots of repitition. I shoot all winter in my basement at 8 yards. It isn't about hitting the bullseye, its about working on consistent form, and follow through. After a while, you will be able to tell a shot is gonna be bad, before it hits the target, if you get consistent with your form. Good luck.

Re: Can\'t hold a real tight group.

I had the same problem a few years back. A good friend of mine and a heck of an archer totally took me back to scratch with my form, release, anchor point etc.... It felt so weird to anchor the string on the end of my nose, but now that I do it, I outshoot him at times and he is the 9 time state broadhead champion! You may email George Dixon and he will send you helpful pointers too www.georgedixon.net

Best of luck!
