Re: This tick anyone else off?

I think alot of folks don't realize what some of these hunting shows have to go through for a show to get aired on TV. Everything on TV is regulated by the FCC and I'm pretty positive no excessive "flopping" of the animal. Some networks aren't even allowed to air the "impact" of an arrow or bullet. I think for the most part they do their best in trying to show hunting the best way they can. I personally don't want to see blood all over the deer or a tonge hanging out of the deer's mouth. I won't take a picture of a deer with anything hanging out of its mouth or blood all over it.

As far as the "pros" hunting in low pressure areas and "we" all could kill monster bucks if we had the beans to fund it. I don't know if that totally true...I hunted Pike county Ill. with the same outfitter that Bob Robb hunted with when he harvested his 180" buck. I was there the same year, same area...I didn't see any thing over 120". shocked.gif

Were you paying as much money as Bob Robb? Maybe the camera, all the money, and trying to get recognition as an outfitter had something to do with it .You know they don't let everyone hunt the best spots.

I honestly don't know what Bob Robb paid...I know I paid a nice chunk of change. I also can't say for certain they didn't have that spot "saved" for him. However, my buddy and I went to the outfitter during the summer (before our fall trip) and spent the weekend with the guides. All we had to do was pay our expenses of getting there...they gave us the lodge for nothing. They took us all over the property showing us different stand locations etc...

We also seen some HUGE hogs of bucks...so I know that Bob Robb didn't shoot the only 180" buck on the property. As a matter of fact...I seen a few (granted they were still in velvet during the summer) that I know would have scored higher than 180".

The 120" buck I did see...I let walk, had him at 20 yards broadside...but that wasn't what I went to hunt. I was after something a little bigger.

As far as getting reconized...Heartland Outfitters was well known before Bob Robb signed up that year. wink.gif

Re: This tick anyone else off?

Some of you guys take what you see on TV way too seriously! smirk.gif

If you know what is reality why does it bother you so much?

My only quam about TV hunting is the poor shot selection thats chosen on occassion.

New hunters just see what the end result is(sometimes). They are led to believe that shoot a deer anywhere and you get a dead deer.

Why producers show cut-away shots of the hunter drawing back(from outside the blind-which would have them busted for sure) is probably because we the public have been clamoring to know the "How they did it part".

Personally I want to see them draw their bow, I want to see the arrow hit the animal, and in the end....I want to envision myself in their place when they walk up to the buck(99 percent of which would be my buck of a lifetime) I dont have on my wall...yet!

When they walk up to the buck thats cleaned up already, or when they act like they just found it when the camera is already there as they walk to it...I just tell myself...FAKE(but I still wish it was me doing it!).

When you think about it...to do all the angles of video that would give us all of what we want to see it would take a bunch of different cameras. Recovering a deer only takes one camera(...and I still envision myself in front of the ones that show it done with some reality).

Take it for what its worth but...I enjoy seeing the animals and knowing that if they can do it so can I.

How they make it into "Hollywood" I could care less about....I just want to be in their place someday cool.gif

We are the ones that are buying the DVD's, the products they advertise, and driving the business by our wallets!

We are responsible for the way the shows are today....we wanted more hunting action in each video we bought. It's not that long ago that most of the videos only had a few hunts on them. Now try to find one of those DVD's that have only 6 or 8 hunts...it's just not happening.

We made it this way by what we bought in the stores!!!

If you want to change the entire business...buy it back with what you choose! The rest will fall by the wayside.

I still like to watch the shows even though they do stuff like that. What cracks me up is when it shows them driving in to the stand and the camera man just happens to be ahead of him.

...Or the cameraman is outside the ground blind showing the bowhunter drawback and the buck is at 20 yards looking at them...LOL

I THINK IF YOU NEED TOO CENSOR THE HUNT YOU PROBEBLY SHOULDNT BE WATCHING THE VIDEO, OR NOT HAVE ANY INTREST IN HUNTING AT ALL.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think its the hunters or producers that do the censoring...its the TV networks and the Federal gov.

We all know how it really is...why is it so important to see? Killing an animal is not pretty...showing extra kicking/flopping on the ground isn't pretty...showing the tonque, excess blood, entrance and exit holes aren't pretty to see.

I know if my wife happens to watch a hunting show with me...she don't want to see any more of the "after" shot than she needs too. She's not stupid...she understands what "really" happened and just don't need to see it.

I could care less what the anti hunting crowd thinks...but I do care about the NON-hunting crowd thinks.
