buckee
It's amazing how resourceful a blackbear can be, when it comes to getting what it wants. Here is a series of pictures taken by a friend of a friend, here on Vancouver Island at Long Lake in Naniamo, BC. Looks and smells good ! How do I get it? I have a plan ! Circus Act - Part #1 Circus Act - Part #2 Got it .....Now what ? The unnerving part about these photos is that this 21/2 to 31/2 year old bear is totally unafraid of humans, and the people that took these pictures are totally unafraid of bears. Bad combination, wouldn't you say ??? With that said, I wish I had of taken these photos. They look like photo contest winners to me. dogdoc
Re: Vancouver Island Black Bear wow--that is a neat sequence of pics. One strong rope they have there. Looks like that bear has a little squirrel blood in him. todd
DSGB
Re: Vancouver Island Black Bear So much for hangin' your food to keep the bears out, eh. Yogi and Booboo would be proud. Them black bears can climb. I posted a sequence a couple years ago of a black bear in the Smoky Mountains that was climbing through the canopy like a squirrel. The branches couldn't have been but a few inches in diameter.

buckee
Re: Vancouver Island Black Bear OK..I made a big booboo on the source of these pics. They weren't taken buy a friend of a friend after all, and I have no idea who took them. My buddy's (who works at the paint store) wife got them sent to her in an email, and he's not sure who took them. Just thought I would clearify that. And apparently it's not Long Lake on the island here, but a diferent Long Lake. I just assumed it was from here because of the title on the pics and the fact that she said a friend sent them.
